re: Anyone else think the guillotine is the most humane form of execution?

It seems as humane as anything else.

Efficient but not humane.
I think the blades would also dull during multiple executions and would take more than one attempt to succeed. That's not very humane.
Injection is pretty humane. Lie on a table, get an injection that puts you to sleep.

It's about time we reopen the coliseum. The world is ready. That's the greatest form of execution in history.

If they let anesthesiologists start the IV and administer the correct drugs it would be the most painless death ever. Essentially it would be like a general anesthetic you never woke up from.

If 'humane' = 'reduction of time consciousness of death' than a
single bullet to the back of the head would seem to do well.

You're assuming the guillotine blade is sharp enough for one clean slice. I'm sure there were plenty of times when the dull blade made it a messy affair.

Dude, it's a huge sharp blade with a big arse weight on top of it...falling from like 20 or 30 feet up in the air. I really don't think there were any botched attempts.

Who is going to clean up all the vomit from witnesses who see a headless body spurting blood everywhere?

Yet, executioners still find a way to frick it up.

Well, the brain doesn't just shut down just because it's been removed from the body. It shuts down due to lack of blood circulation.
Wouldn't the blood pressure drop instantly and basically render one unconscious in a second or two?

Just make sure ya tie the body down, the like to get up and walk around. There's video of this somewhere on the net.

I don't understand why we don't use nitrogen asphyxiation. It is simple, painless, works every time, and cheap.
"When humans breathe in pure nitrogen, helium, argon, sulfur hexafluoride, methane, or any other chemically inert gas(es), they exhale carbon dioxide without resupplying oxygen. Inert gases are generally free of odor and taste. As such, the human subject detects no abnormal sensation. This leads to asphyxiation (death from lack of oxygen) without the painful and traumatic feeling of suffocation, or the side effects of poisoning."

Hanging is better. Less mess and very effective.

drugged and falling asleep forever = most humane..

Have you ever seen a person killed by guillotine? Their head flies one way and their body flies another, it's brutal
Posted on 11/2/14 at 10:53 am to fr33manator
They hung a fat guy in Washington State once and didn't do the drop math right. Popped his frigging head right off. Pretty messy.

5 mg Versed
100 mcg Fentanyl
100 mg Lidocaine
300 mg Propofol
20 mg Pancuronium (or 100 mg Rocuronium)
100 mEq Potassium Chloride
Bam - death, painless and quick for like $25-50

Try 6 feet. And yes there have been plenty of frick ups
The most common being the blade not sharp enough and turning into more of a bludgeoning through the spine with multiple drops of the blade. It would just kind of crush through eventually rather than slice
