I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I was shocked to see my south Georgia hometown friends posting heavy pro-vaxx stuff.

My dad has been laying in on pretty hard, but politely. I get it, he's in his 70s and should probably be one to get it. Mom is undergoing cancer treatment. I tell him that I like our odds right now without it, but we will consider it down the road, perhaps.

My sister in law has started posting about "my friend is immune compromised, so it's not just about you...get vaxxed." She (sil) had the virus last year, and was never even sick enough to stop working out in her home gym.

I ask my sis in law what happens when her immune compromised friend is exposed to the virus by someone that is vaccinated. How does that change his vulnerability? I argue it's more dangerous because everyone gets lax on their standard procedures. I get crickets as a response.

My college buddy has been posting about it and also making jokes about horse dewormer. Posted photo of his second jab just today. His wife is a pharmacist. I ask why are we only focusing on the vaccine and ignoring all other treatment and prevention options? Crickets.

These are hard-right, pro-Trump redneck salt of the earth people. There's nothing blue about them. What am I missing??

That the largest vaccine roll out in history has been incredibly efficacious at preventing severe disease with minimal side effects?

90% of people are too lazy to think for themselves and it makes no difference which side of the uniparty they support.

1) Get off of Vaxbook
2) Block them
3) Post photos of yourself doing Ivermectin shots.

Probably because 75% of US adults are now vaccinated and there have been crickets as far as widespread negative side effects. Most people can balance that risk compared with protection provided from serious illness.

You're still politicizing the vaccine decision.

Considering the high incidence of obesity and metabolic syndrome in America, the decision should be pretty easy for most people.

I have no problem with people not getting the vaccine as it's their choice. What I don't quite understand now is why are they not getting it? When it first game out it was "this vaccine is rushed and it doesn't have FDA approval" and that was a valid argument. That argument is gone now. What are the legitimate reasons people are using outside of they don't want to?

I had this same pressure in February of this year. My first nephew was born in March and my brother and sister in law made it clear I wasn't seeing the baby until I had the shots. I also went to a wedding 2 weeks ago with multiple immune compromised individuals and I am very close friends with them and their family.

Had a conversation about it with a friend.. his response was "see you at your funeral" my response was "not if I see you first".. People refuse to admit that vaxed people are also dying..

Possibly. I have somehow survived a life of over 40 years without ever getting the flu vaccine, having only caught it 2x. Tamiflu fixed it quickly.

I'm not "blue" and I got it way back in February. Most of my "red" friends got it as well. Many push for folks to get it on social media.

I don't think it's so much a red or blue thing as some people make it out to be.

I’m about to start pushing on some of the really dumb people in my family. I’m not implying that only dummies are not getting vaxed, but in my family, everyone with an IQ over 90 has been vaccinated. There are two extremely stupid people who have not. One is beyond help, he’s so stupid. The other is young - about 25 - but she is morbidly obese.

If by minimal side effects you mean 30k+ dead from the vaccine, then okay.

What is the point of it now? Can I still get Covid if I'm vaccinated? Yes. Can I still spread COVID? Yes. Am I still required to wear a mask? Yes. Unless you are in a high risk demographic, there is no point to get the vaccine anymore. If I were to get COVID again, I have basically no risks of hospitalization or death. Yes the chances of an adverse side effect is low but there is still a chance, so why take the risks? Its simple math for me.

I know many "one dosers" who refuse to get the 2nd shot as they still are required to wear masks, etc.

that getting politics involved with the vaccine is the worst thing possible. sounds like your family are smart folks.

There's two extremes to this, both are equally insufferable.
