You could quit working tomorrow.
But you won’t be able to fly to Hilton Head or four days anymore….and wife will probably leave you too.

Look I love the US, but working yourself to death with the occasional vacation is no way to live. It’s been romanticized in the states and hopefully gets peeled back eventually. Spending time with friends and family is what life is about.

But I mean are we as human beings really meant to work 5-7 days a week with maybe one full day for leisure until we’re 65 years old?
If you think about it for the vast majority of human existence, we worked 365 days a year from the point we could work until the day we couldn;t work any longer.

Honestly, start your own business. Yes you will have some stress dealing with risk but after a while you'll be in charge of your schedule as well as being to get away as you train people to completely cover in your absence. It's a novel idea. Highly recommend it to you.

Every time I leave SWUtah/SEColoraro. The “4Corners” calls to me.

When I used to backpack I’d feel the same way. Life was boiled down to walk, drink water, eat, sleep and all surrounded by stunning scenery. Every problem in life dissolved after day 2. We would start to regress into teenage boys. No other coping mechanism could ever replace that feeling

The meaning of life is love.
You already knew this before you went of vacation.
And work does not preclude love.
Without work, the world would not evolve.
Do your part and enjoy a fulfilling retirement.

Sucks when you’re on a long vacation and you’ve only got a couple of days left. Then you just spend the time thinking about having to go back to the real world.

I don’t like vacations. Usually end up selling back my unused time off

Buy less shite. Be happy with less. Problem solved.

Short answer: absolutely not.

I would take eking for survival rather than working my life away at least you have some cool experiences along the way.
Yes:
For men, disease, war, starvation, pain, struggle, death
For women, disease, rape, starvation, pain, struggle, natural childbirth, death

Every time I come back from Isla Mujeres I question myself why do I put myself through all the stressful work that I do
Things just move at such a slow pace on there and everybody seems happy, people go with the flow and they live such a minimal lifestyle yet seem to be the happiest people on the planet
Family is everything in that culture. We talked to some Americans who moved down there to get away from the house of bustle, and they were telling us about a drastic change, they were stressed to the max when they lived here in the US, but whenever they moved down there, they literally have zero stress.
I feel stupid about all the material possessions I own, and sadly after a week of being back here in the states I go back to my old ways of consuming consuming consuming

You really need to get some tutoring for your (lack of) reading comprehension skills

Goodness settle down you hippies
For most of human history you’d have been borderline chattel, most of your kids would die in infancy and you poop in a bucket

True, but it wasn't a structured day until we were agrarian and even then, time reliance came centuries afterward (IIRC).
Not romanticizing how our ancestors lived, we currently have it way better, but the strict workday with simulated reward is a clear trade-off from having a bit more unstructured, natural way of life but having to deal with famine, illness, and being in the food chain.

I bet their depression and anxiety rates were basically zero.
Zero most of the times, and then infinity when they look to the horizon and see a dust cloud. And what happens when they broke a bone or got an infection? What happened when droughts hit?
The best outcomes are for those alive today who benefit from the best technology in human history, but eschew a lot of the stupid spending and therefore afford to let the wife stay home with the children. This removes tremendous stress from the day-to-day need to get things done.

Well, you go on vacation to a place where people are paid to be nice to you, and wonder why it's so relaxing.
