The stupidest modern trend has to be wearing a hood at all times, even indoors.

Gangsta rap hadn’t been made in nearly 20 years so I doubt it.

Theres no more rock music because Cultcha’ won the kids.

There’s still rock music, it’s just not the dominant form like it was in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. That’s thanks to the music industry and, frankly, MTV.

Pop music and culture sucks

The internet exposed how black people act in many cases and they stopped being “cool”.

You can only watch so many videos of people beating a defenseless person for no reason before it changes your mindset.

These videos are everywhere, all over the internet now.

You may be right about the parental thing, because my Dad would have kicked my arse for acting like that.

Funny because I find the wanker archetype to be rare these days.

Black/urban culture isn't as “cool” as it use to be. That's my observations based on interacting with younger family members and their friends.
this isn't exactly wrong. the entire equilibrium has shifted to the urban side though. it's not as subversive so you see fewer kids fully jumping in the wanker lifestyle.

It’s black guys blaring about bitches and respect and pulling his “nine”. You can call it whatever you like.

The average young person is infused with more “urban culture” than ever before but they also don’t go as overboard with it, almost nobody does. It used to be a very common thing it seems (I think when I was growing up is sort of when it stopped being popular) early to mid 2000s

More in the past, say 15 years ago. Less now and none in my kids' school.

I don't even think it's that

social media has allowed the more sheltered white kids to see that most black people are pretty normal, and many are weird nerds like their white peers, as opposed to just superstar athletes and rappers that were visible prior to social media.

I think that's about to radically change. You could see it coming with White Boy Summer last year.

Exactly. Mainstream rap in 2000s was mainly club/crunk genre hip hop. There was gangster rap, yes, but it wasn't mainstream.

It's even worse now because kids who are deeply embedded in that culture have become full-on nihilists who think they can re-spawn like a video game. That's a dangerous combination.
