I am under the impression that most planes crash during take off or landing. How would this help.

However i would buy the more expensive ticket for this....thats how much i hate flying.

Before i was 15 years old i flew all over. After about that age i realized all things break...its only a question when not if.

You are right to be afraid of flying.

I think its so fricked up that commercial passengers do not get parachutes.

1mg of Xanax and two shots of whatever vodka they have on board.

Haven't been stressed on a flight in 2 years.

before 9-11, I used to read a book by Dr Earnest Becker, Denial of Death, while I flew. the title was on the cover and I stopped taking it on planes so I would not be hazed by the staff in the waiting room or upset passengers seated with me.

"Still alive" and "conscious" are different things. And whether any passengers were actually still alive seems to be speculative at best.

I think that is definitely a major part of it. I have been around too many machines during my lifetime to know that one little thing going wrong can lead to catastrophic failure.

I have a mild fear of flying. But I think that has more to do with me over thinking what it takes for a plane to stay in the air.

I once had a pilot abort a landing at ATL because of poor visibility. Scared the shite out of me

This happened to me twice.

Once in BTR during a really, really bad storm. We were on the final approach and the pilot just peeled off and went back up. We had to go through all that horrible weather again. That was probably the worst flight I ever had.

Second was at SFO. There was a plane taking it's sweet arse time getting off the runway so we had to bail and go around again.

nah, you are forgetting the scenes on TV of the FAA experts poring over a vast field of nuts, bolts, and body parts after a crash.

I think about those folks that got hit over Ukraine a year or so ago. Have to believe some had a minute or two of being conscious on the way down

There is a disorder that is based on people fearing things others went through. You read about a plan crash and illogically think that exact thing will happen to you.....almost feeling the fall itself.

Oh I have no doubt that watching 9/11 footage has fricked with my head as far as flying is concerned. It just all recently started to hit me (Within the last four years). As a kid, flying was not that big of a deal to me.

Travel often enough for work and your fear of dealing with idiots at airports and in airplanes will far surpass any fear of crashing.

I've been in an airliner that ran off the end of the runway, sheering off its nose gear. I still fly, but don't particularly like to fly.

Landed at Reagan in DC about a year ago and I can say the approach and landing there made me personally thank the pilot as I got off.

That water approach or river approach or whatever they call it into Reagan is pretty bad. Feels like the pilot is drawing a pretzel.

The flight was ripped to shreds by mountain related turbelunce. Any seasoned pilot is aware of updraft/downdraft turbulence near mountains these days.

You have a fear of dying, not flying. Get right with the God of your understanding and the fear of "flying" goes away.
