Once the plane is in the air what is the point of being afraid? The plane will either fly and get you to your destination or it won't.

This, sometimes you just have to trust someone else take the wheel. The way I see it is that I chose to be on that plane, and the best pilot on the plane is probably behind the wheel.. I would much rather go out in a plane crash than a car crash, seems a lot quicker with less bleeding out

I fly once every 4-6 weeks for work. Only an hour long flight, now on a chartered jet.

And I still fricking hate it. I know all the statistics about drive vs flying accidents. However, I just like being in control. I'm not in control when flying, and I just have this fear that I'm going to end up with a pilot who says "To hell with life".

I basically kiss the ground every time I land safely, so almost monthly.

I've thought of this concept myself. Safety is not an issue with commercial aviation.

Why, would you be less dead after the car crash?

They would at least be able to recover your body for a funeral

As someone who has been in a plane crash, I can tell you that your fears are unfounded. Air travel is very safe.

In fact, I'm the best guy to fly with. The odds of me being in another crash are astronomical.
