the beginning of this thread mentions every bodybuilder using this. also every mma competitor. wouldn't say the look like 5th graders. you're gonna look like whatever muscle mass you have with less fat on you.
keto is the most efficient way to lose weight because there is no transition from carb burning to fat burning. you could probably eat 10% more calories.
also the most efficient at muscle retention. during the carb/fat burning transition your body will burn more muscle.
Some athletes prefer it because they never hit that wall of running out of carbs.
no one should eat over 100 carbs a day, unless your doing 1000 calorie workouts.
many people use burn ketones at night
Carbs/insulin cause heart disease not fat or cholesterol,Cholesterol actually prevents it
You dont need to tell me how low carbs burns fat, trust me i understand.
And most of the the people in this thread dont look anything like a bodybuilder. Keto is great(not the best way) but when combined with just cardio most people end up looking like shite.
If somebody really does want to go keto i suggest psmf but if not atleast get 1g of protein per lbm and do some type of barbell training. I highly suggest greyskull lp with the fasted morning walks. I also suggest combining keto with some form of intermittent fasting if you really want to stay on it long term.
The emphasis on barbell training can not be stated enough. Try and stay away from steady state cardio like jogging. Walking is fine and works great while fasted. Other cardio would be some type of metabolic training for no more than 10 mins after weight training. I suggest tabata on a rower, airdyne or heavy bag training or 40yd sprints.

got any proof of that? trust me your body does not need carbs and there are a bunch of studies that prove it. Don't get me wrong, I don't recommend no carbs for very long nor do I think its even close to the best method, but you do not need carbs to live or be healthy. In fact quite the opposite.
I am not going to start linking studies but they are readily available through google and google scholar. and you are right the body does require glucose, but it will create its own and thats why it is not needed.
our ancestors only ate fruits or other items that could be found growing wild and would go long periods of time without any type of carb.
I don't want you to take this wrong and think I am suggesting somebody do this because anybody that knows me, knows I always suggest some form of if it fits your macros combined with intermittent fasting, i was just saying technically he is right in that we don't need them.
But I will be god damned if I am giving up sushi for more than 2 weeks at a time. I use the rapid fatloss handbook version of psmf to kick start my fat loss usually and then go into a more balanced 50/30/20 pro/carbs/fat diet. But keto does work and carbs are not needed.
now all those thinking you can eat more cals then you burn and still lose fat are full of shite. the laws of thermodynamics still apply. Now you can get around the laws for a very very short period of time while your body adjust and is being very inefficient at the processes causing your bmr to rise but this will only work for at most 2 weeks, and even that long is rare. you still must burn more calories then you take in. period.
large doses of protien help that because they take a lot more energy to process causing a rise in bmr but again this will only last for so long.
bottom line is to lose weight you must burn more than you take in. if you want to save muscle and burn almost all fat while keto stick to the guidelines I laid out above.

My trainer looks like a middle linebacker with 6% body fat and he said he gets between 400-500 carbs per day

to be fair, many people posting success seemed to be above 250 (not healthy) so that does make a big difference
that was my point, if somebody is that big to begin with they do not understand how to eat properly and how to maintain a semi healthy lifestyle. going straight low carb seems good at first but its not going to instill the habits needed long term to keep the weight off in 99% of the cases.
perfect example is the guy rocket was talking about. he has been stuck at around the same weight for almost a year. Thats insane and whats further insane is to keep doing the same thing spinning his wheels.
just lift heavy shite and use iifym to create a balanced diet and combine with intermittent fasting so you aren't hungry all the time from eating bird meals. that right there is enough for 95% of the people but if you want more do sprints or some other form of metabolic training after lifting and move around a ton while in the fasted state(10k steps should be the long term goal before you have your first meal)
I notice people on here tend to over complicate this whole process. Especially those way overweight.

plenty of people like that. that was kind of my point. its all about calories.
btw when i say lifting program I mean a barbell program not some bullshite pump class.

I'm weighing about 190 right now and would like to get down in the 160s. Is this doable without losing strength? Some stats:
Weight: 192 (just weighed myself)
Height: 5'5" (yes I'm midget)
Some recent lift info (not all are maxes, just what i did on recent day):
Bench: 1 rep 265
Squat: 2 rep 315
Deadlift: 2 rep 275
Military: 1 rep 175
I have more but this will give you an idea of where I am. At 37, i really want to have a flat stomach, not necessarily have a six pack. What route would you suggest i go?

Most fruits have carbohydrates. Many fruits are rich in carbohydrates.

I love kiwis and blueberries. Both are busting with vitamins and antioxidants that keep me going throughout the busy day.

Did ideal protein last year. Spend two and a half months in ketosis. Lost 40 pounds. On a pretty normal diet now for about 10 months and have kept it off.

The body doesn't need carbs. The brain needs glucose, no doubt, but gluconeogenesis is a natural process. My lab results are all optimal, including all kidney and liver values.
I've been keto since June 2014 and I assure you that if you saw me in the gym you wouldn't mistake me for a 5th grader.

Protein turns to glucose when carbs aren't available. That's why true ketos don't want high protein.

You should be able continue to get stronger especially on deadlift. But it all depends on how big of a hurry you are in to lose it.
When do you want to reach this goal by? Thats going to determine what i am going to recommend. But off the top of my head i am going to suggest the following
Basic gryeskull lp layout or reverse pyramid training.
360 min of fasted walking a week(think 8 to 10k steps while fasted a day)
Combined with martin berkhams leangains protocol.
This is assuming you are goving your self 12-15 weeks at least to do this.
Lmk your timeframe and i will plug your info into the calc and let you know your macros.

Those are all very acceptable weights. Good job on that first of all. What I like doing is the barbell compound movements first for the workout around the 3x5 rep range. This is my strength portion that helps me lift more in the hypertrophy phase. After that, I switch to 3x12 and work on form and eccentric concentration. This is the hypertrophy and shaping part of my workout. I don't usually do cardio because I am exhausted and sweating by the end of the workout.
I do this keto diet first and slow down the loss per week to preserve muscle. Towards the end of the diet where the weight is harder to lose, I'll add in some cardio.

Keto is used for epilepsy treatment. My daughter had to do it. It's nasty and doesn't seem overly healthy. Sure youd lose weight, but is it really that difficult to just moderate your carbs and eat a lot of vegetables?

Here's how I lost 70 lbs. it's really a genius idea
Less calories in vs calories out
Moved more, ate less
No fad diet, no 21 day detox. Once you reach your goal weight, eat and drink in moderation
It's brilliant I know

I'm going back to Baton Rouge and a visit to NO the first week of June and would like to see some good results, even if I'm not at my end goal yet. We can set the time frame to 16 weeks.
I workout in the morning before work. I'm going to try and jog in the evening after dinner but before bed. My problem with running is my feet. They are flat and i have a lot of arch/heel pain. I just got some new shoes and some inserts from my podiatrist to help with the pain. I think I'm just going to have to tough it out for a while.
I've been doing Wendler 5-3-1 for a while and it has really helped me with my deadlift.

You also developed what seems to be an eating disorder by always whining like a little girl over gaining a pound or two or not being able to go out to eat with your boss
