like who?
why would any athlete, let alone any human, avoid carbs?

What are typical meals like? How much do you have to prepare?

Fad diet!? It's been around for literally ever. Think cave men.
You know how these contrarian fricks are around here. Hell, not long ago someone on the Rant called the Georgia Tech's offense "gimmicky".

Wait wtf? Dude from the very beginning rocket had always advocated some type of intermittent fasting protocol and iifym and making sure to always include nuttella and chicken fries. He might be a shite stirrer and he might not have eaten the bun because it did not fit his macros but he had never been a low carb advocate.
Now there is nothing wrong with keto in fact there is some magic to it. But honestly most of yall suck at it and would be much better off just going with iifym.
And i find it funny that most that post in these threads advocating keto are almost always skinny fat. If you wanna do low carb then do one of two things
1) clean up your choices and go full on paleo. There are health benefits especially if you grow your own food or source most locally.
2) quit being a pussy and go full on psmf (protein strictly mother fricker) and just shed the weight quickly.
But honestly what's the point of losing all the weight if you look exactly the same just smaller? What's the point if you are just going to end up with Arms the Size of a 5th grader?
Almost every one of yall would be better off on a high protein/mod carb/mod fat diet and starting a basic barbell training program with some added metobolic conditioning 3 or 4 times a week.

to be fair, many people posting success seemed to be above 250 (not healthy) so that does make a big difference

The 8 hour diet has been working well for me

Follow macronutrients and micronutrient calculator. Regular exercise, most importantly weight training. Every thing else is old school broscience.

keto is the most efficient way to lose weight because there is no transition from carb burning to fat burning. you could probably eat 10% more calories.
also the most efficient at muscle retention. during the carb/fat burning transition your body will burn more muscle.
Some athletes prefer it because they never hit that wall of running out of carbs.
no one should eat over 100 carbs a day, unless your doing 1000 calorie workouts.
many people use burn ketones at night
Carbs/insulin cause heart disease not fat or cholesterol,Cholesterol actually prevents it

At the NIH, Dr. Richard Veech refers to ketones as "magic" in their ability to increase metabolic efficiency, while decreasing production of free radicals, the damaging byproducts of normal metabolism. His work has shown that ketone bodies may treat neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease,[5] and the heart and brain operate 25% more efficiently using ketones as a source of energy.[6] Research has also shown ketones play a role in reducing epileptic seizures with the so-called high-fat, near-zero carbohydrate Ketogenic Diet. The only carb restriction i have on myself is carb back loading. No carbs until after i workout for the day. Then hopefully those carbs are used for muscle repair instead of storing fat.

It's good if you're really fat to kickstart your weight loss, however you need carbs
Posted on 2/27/16 at 8:27 am to Hu_Flung_Pu
Are you saying the human body doesn't need carbohydrates at all?
Posted on 2/27/16 at 8:35 am to SabiDojo
The human body does not need carbs one bitm none. In our day and age is it really sustainable? Nope but we dont need them.

I used to be afraid of carbs and did the low to no carb thing, got lean. Now, I keep them in and carb cyle when I need to get lean, look much better. I think the big thing is finding what carbs digest easy and not make you bloat, plus eating the right carbs at the right time. For example, oatmeal and ezekial bread in the morning, sweet potato for lunch. I train in the evening so I'll have jasmine rice for dinner.
