Get the basic membership. I use it about once a year. Great for jump starts, tires, and if you need a tow.

I have the second tier.

We have roadside assistance on our auto insurance. My wife has used it a number of times. They're usually pretty fast and it's cheap.
Just looked at my bill. It's like $12 every 6 months for 2 vehicles.

I've been a AAA member for 20+ years for Auto Insurance and 13 years for Home Owners Insurance.
I have had nothing but excellent experiences with them. Their roadside assistance has come in handy on multiple occasions over the years for my family.
For the times I've had to file Auto Insurance claims, they have always treated me right, and haven't raised my rates afterward.
AAA just put a new roof and gutters on my house after a large hail storm we had last year. No issues at all with that either.
Your milage may vary, but I've had nothing but good experiences with them.

AAA plus, I think it's one below the top (Premier)

Second tier FTW.
First tier will only tow you 5 miles, second tier 100 miles.
I got stuck on the side of I-55 once with a blowout and lug nut damage. I was fricked. They towed me 45 minutes to Jackson, MS to a dealership instead of some shitty service center in the middle of nowhere.

I have a membership. Definitely worth price.

I’ve used them a few times to replace a battery. They are cheaper than Autozone and have a better warranty and can do it anywhere. If you are married it’s worth it. My wife has used them a few times when I was out of town. Plus you get the discounts at places.

I've had it since college. Trip tiks and the now outdated travel books were really important before the internet. Now for discounts on lodging, for towing Mr. Turf's breaking down British antique cars, for service when we're not driving together and he can't come help me with car problems, I wouldn't be without it.
Back when his parents moved to our closest city, we gave them AAA for Christmas as "the mechanical grandson they'll never have". They used it a lot, and then switched their car insurance to them. They were pleased with it (and darned few things pleased them.)

Yes.
My vehicle has about 325,000 miles on it and I drive rental cars all over the country, often out in remote places at any hour of the day or night. If I have a breakdown, I want a reliable service coming to help my arse.
Even things most of us know how to do, like change a tire, can be problematic if all you have is the standard jack and lug wrench issued with your vehicle and whoever put your tires on last really tightened down the lugnuts.

I had it for years. It was definitely worth it, especially if you have wife/kids that drive without you.
They also have roadside "lock out" service in case you look your keys in the car.
I dropped it when I went with another car insurance co. that offered free towing/roadside assistance. I used the ins. co.'s service once and it was nowhere near as good as AAA.
I will probably switch back to AAA if I ever start driving as much as I did pre-Covid.

I have it mainly for my wife. I travel out of town for business and it has come through for me. Dead battery in wife’s car. They brought their battery truck out and replaced her battery when she was at work.
If you are a member and are riding with someone you can use on their vehicle for flat, towing battery etc.

Yes.

Have you had to use their services?
Several times.

Looks like the premium price for a year is about 120...and you get a lot with it...
You dont even need the Premium service for it to be worth it.
Put it this way:
If you're riding home from work at 5:30 pm on a busy interstate with traffic flowing at 80mph+ and you have a blowout or flat, just not having to worry with the chance of getting your arse ran over and killed makes it worth it. Make that call to AAA just once, and it pays for itself.
If you are riding with a friend or family member, and you go to a movie or game or whatever, and they have a flat, dead battery, out of gas, etc. you can use your AAA membership for them, and it doesn't matter that they aren't on the account or that they don't have AAA.
Do you have kids? If they haven't locked their keys in the car in some obscure place, they will, and AAA will open it for free. Not having to call a locksmith one time makes it worth it.
Break down and need a tow to the closest garage? They cover it. Want a tow to a specific garage further away, they will charge you, but a fraction of the cost without AAA.
Yes, it is worth it.

Stay in a hotel once that takes AAA and you've pretty much bought it in full.
Been with them for 20 years.

We have it for my wife. She definitely has used it before and it's nice for my peace of mind.

You save like $5 a hotel. What do you mean?

My insurance company offers free towing, jumps, etc., so not anymore.
My alternator went out in Fruitdale AL on the way home from Gulf Shores. I called State Farm roadside assistance and they advised a tow truck would be there in 6 hours. I hitchhiked 25 miles to the nearest town and back to buy an alternator and changed it out. Total time to get back on the road was about 4 hours.

It’s not worth it. You can get roadside service through your insurance company and it’s cheaper with no deductible or fees no matter how much you use it.

Well,
When I was living in the Keys I had them tow my truck down to Key West from Marathon and that cost alone was more than my dues.
I haven’t used them in 8 years but it’s nice knowing a $600 dollar tow is covered.
If I’m in somebody else’s vehicle and it fricks up I can pull that card out as well.

Varies depending on the hotel (and sometimes the season), but AAA discounts can be 5% to 20% off standard rates.
