I don't get the hate. It was our 25th anniversary and we wanted to take a drive up the A1A coastal highway in a convertible. It was just a fun something to do. Must be class envy if it bothers you so much. Sorry that you're poor.

I was giving you shite because it sounded like something a douchebag divorcee would do because he wanted to pretend like he was a rich 28 year old.

Having a good time with the lady of a quarter century—different thing. Apologies glad it was a good time.

That's all my daughters have used for the last 4 years. They love it and get try out various vehicles like Jeeps at the beach, BMWs, Audis, and others. Easy to rent. One even worked for Enterprise and said this was better.

The Boubon Street terrorist rented the truck from Turo.

Bet the owner was pissed that his vehicle was wrecked. Wonder what insurance companies think of renting a personal vehicle.

Anyone here an agent in Louisiana?

I rented my car out on Turo. It's legit. I made sure to clean mine before each time. I did kind of screw over someone because they dropped the car off at airport, and I was to meet them, but I was late. They just left the keys in the gas tank, parked close to the terminal, and walked.

What I disliked as the car owner was that most of them wanted me to meet them at the airport to drop it off to them which requires someone driving with me, then me coming back home with them. That's a 30 minute round trip from where I am. I told them I will do it for +$25 to drop off the car because it requires me drive with someone there and ride with them back.

But Turo is not a rent-a-car from the airport app. It's rent it out from wherever the car owner stores the car.

I would look for cars close to the airport to uber and pick up, or ask them if they do drop offs at the airport, but be prepared to be asked for more than $25 like I did because it's kind of a pain to have to find someone to drive with you to drop the car off, then get a ride back with them.

I’ve used it probably 15 times and I’ve never meet an owner. I love it because you can get a large luxury vehicle considerably cheaper than through a rental company. I do recommend using someone that has multiple vehicles, as it’s more of a company than someone’s own personal vehicle.

Used it last summer.

Very low-maintenance and an overall pleasant experience. Think of it like Airbnb for rental cars.

Guy dropped it off at my hotel. When I was done he picked it up.

Make sure you take pictures of every square inch of the car. Just to have proof you didn’t cause any damage.

I was thinking about using it earlier this summer when I was having trouble finding the rental car I wanted but got scared off because there were a ton of reviews online about them just canceling right before with zero notice so I didn’t end up doing it

Kind of want to try it sometime though seems like it could be a really easy way to rent a car

Turo is outstanding in Denver. Sort by "pick up at airport". Saves you an hour coming and going over a rental car. And you can get great pricing.

I dont find it necessary at smaller regional airports where they still have regular rentals on site but its great at larger ones.

Highly dependent on the person you get, but a lot of the people that run these are AirBnB types, so I would basically photoshoot and film the entire car from top to bottom when first seen and last seen.

I had a buddy damage his and it was a nightmare, multiple friends with good experiences, and has an ex-coworker run a "fleet" that ended up ruining his marriage and now he regularly posts suicide threats.

We used them un Denver in '21, 2 different times in Hawaii, in Boulder in '24, and you can search sports cars too. We rented a Porsche in San Diego and about to head to Vegas and have a Porsche rented for there too.

Always a very easy experience. We either Uber to the pickup spot or the owner delivers to our hotel.

On trips where we plan on driving a lot like the PNW we still go through rental services because of the higher miles we plan on putting on the vehicle.

I did that a few years ago with prev Mrs Cars. Rented a BMW 8 convertible and cruised up A1A ( before the fires). Had a great time, and it made an awesome memory...
I used Sixt, and highly recommend them.

Done it many times. Never an issue. At airports, it is a superior option. They always drop it off right at terminal parking, lockbox with the keys, return there. No shuttles.

done it twice with no issues. Similar to Air BNB or any other servivce where you're using other people's stuff, I imagine that the individual you're renting from is going to be a gigantic factor in your experience.

Both times I've used them I've walked up to the car in an airport garage, exactly where they said ti'd be, and used a keycode to gain entry. Cars were clean both times. No issues. The only minor annoyance was you needing to take a ton of pictures both at pickup and dropoff. Like several pics from all 4 sides plus the interior. Granted that protects both you and the owner, so it's necessary. But other than that cuople minute hassle, everything else was great. And they're liek half the price of a car rental company.

Used it several times. Great selection and if you shop around, you will get a good rate.

One thing to be careful of, many insurance companies won't cover you in them so you better check yours first and if not, select the Turo insurance coverage. It will jack your cost up tho

They use to be a little cheaper than the rental car agencies but, since Covid, the prices have been comparable if not cheaper for the rental agencies. I never had any problem renting from Turo but recently stopped because it wasn’t any cheaper and it can sometimes take time to get to the car or wait for it to be delivered. I’m usually on a time crunch to get to my destination and Avis makes it easy to get off the plane and go directly to my car.

The only benefit now is you can usually get better vehicles for the same price.

Also, some of the owners will put air tags in their vehicles. If that’s something you’re against, them knowing everywhere you go, then you need to verify that in advance.
