One of my cousins on my dad's side was a huge Elvis fan and saw him/met him a couple of times in Atlanta before he reached superstar level (she's now in her early 80s).
The first time was at the Fox Theater, and she and a friend were one of the last people to leave and were just hanging around the lobby when Elvis came out. They spoke for a few minutes and Elvis commented on my cousin's long fingernails. He took her hand in his and ran her nails along the side of his face. A few years later he came back and kissed her through the screen of his dressing room window.
The really funny story is that one of the big national magazines had an article saying that Elvis was corrupting the youth of America. My aunt wrote a letter to the editor defending him. Apparently Elvis's mom Gladys read the letter to the editor when it was printed, got my aunt's address from the magazine and wrote her a note thanking her for standing up for Elvis.

My mom’s younger brother sang with a gospel quartet who did a short stint with Elvis’ backing band during his Las Vegas residency in the early 70s.
He pissed Elvis off after being late for rehearsals too many times. Elvis gave the quartet an ultimatum: Fire my uncle or he’d find a new quartet.
The quartet immediately shitcanned my uncle.

A close family member attended a concert of his when he came to Louisiana. Apparently he was handing out scarfs and roses to certain people. The one he handed her has his blood on it from one of the rose thorns cutting his finger. Not sure if it could be proven but she still has that scarf with the blood stains in a glass frame. Always thought it was neat.

My uncle played upright bass for some of his gigs in the 60's. Had stories about the practices at Graceland complete with peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Family has pictures.

I had a few dates with a girl whose mom dated him when he was stationed in Mississippi.

My dad who is 85 told me that he shot pool at the old City Cafe in Plaquemine, LA with Elvis back in the mid 50s.

Elvis and his crew would fly his jet the Lisa Marie from Memphis TN to Denver CO just to get these sandwiches called the Fools Gold Loaf from a certain restaurant, eat them on the tarmac, then fly back to Memphis.. the sandwiches consisted of peant butter jelly bacon and some other stuff isnside an entire loaf of bread .

My father was a La State Trooper back in the day. The troopers were raising money to build what would become 'Camp Win-A-Friend' in the woods near Holden. The camp would be a place where selected kids from each Troop could go for a week - kids that normally would have no chance to go to camp.
One weekend, some scoundrel stole loads of lumber and lots of donated building supplies.
The troopers started the campaign over again, and volunteer troopers would watch the supplies in the off hours.
Elvis read about the theft, and wrote a check to cover all the supplies, and then some to help finish off the camp.

True story ... Elvis sent one of his boys over to my Mom when she was leaving work to invite her to Graceland and go out on a date.
He met/saw her while she was working at Lerner's, downtown Memphis, I can't remember if it was before of after the Miss Memphis thing. As the story goes, according to Dad and two of his buddies, Elvis was coming out of Lansky Brothers on Beale Street, with a couple of his guys, walking down toward 2nd and Momma was coming out of Lerner's. He sent one of his guys over and asked her if she would like to come over to Graceland and meet Johnny Cash.
Mom and Dad had met Johnny Cash before when he came over to Treadwell to pick his younger Brother Tommy up ... who was a classmate of Mom and and Dad's. Well, not a classmate so much as they all attended Treadwell where Mom and Dad were older than Tommy, Mom was the beauty queen there, Dad the local football star ... anyways, that puts it into context.
Elvis had apparently seen Mom in Lerner's before, according to Red West who was big BBQing buddies with my grandfather later (Red gave my grandfather a big knife used in one of Elvis' movies which I still own today.)
Everybody thought Elvis was living over on Audubon at the time, no one knew he had just moved into Graceland over on what is now EP blvd, but back then it was ... well, the name of the road escapes me, I think it was Southhaven Blvd through Whitehaven (which we now call Blackhaven) .... anyways, that was the first time they heard about him moving to Graceland.
Anyways, Momma thanked the guy and told them she had already met Johnny Cash and that she was engaged to (my Dad) ... which impressed Elvis because he was a fan of Dad's. (Elvis loved college football big time.)
Meanwhile Dad and his two buddies we're walking over to meet Mom with their two girlfriends from the Peabody and they saw this stranger talking to Mom ... Dad walked up and confronted the guy to which Elvis came over and apologized and asked the guys if they wanted to try-out his new toy ... a motorized tricycle I think it was but don't quote me on that, it was something along those lines.
Somebody got a picture of Elvis and Dad and it ended-up in the Commercial Appeal.
I've heard the story multiple times from HS and College friends of Mom's and Dad's, and it was included in a story told at Dad's memorial by one of his teammates.
Mom was, and is still stunningly beautiful to this day.
Ironically, maybe a week or so ago I shared these computer generated pictures of what Elvis would have looked like today had he lived. (Shared them with Mom, see below.) Mom made the right choice. Dad was, until the day he died, a handsome fellow. All the girls used to tell me he was something to behold in the eyes of females ... that's all I heard from my girl friends and wives.
Wish I could share pictures of the two of them but these days that wouldn't work.
Here's what the AI computers think about Elvis.
... and today ...
... and, on a side note, I met Tommy Cash in 1973 or 74 when I was working the State Fair security at a concert he was playing in Columbia near Williams Brice on the Fair Grounds. I mentioned my Mom in passing and he told me my mother was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen and he asked me to invite my Dad and her to the show the next night, which I did. (Dad was out of town at the time.) He brought her backstage and he was the nicest guy, very polite and respectful, and he introduced her to everyone ... including Johnny again, who was back stage hiding, out of sight in a disguise, there to visit with his Brother.
A few years later Mom and her best friend went to see Elvis, in concert in Columbia at the Carolina Coliseum, I think that was Februaryish of 77. They had front row seats ... Elvis saw Mom and threw her this scarf he wiped sweat with ... she gave it to her friend.
That was one of his final concerts. He was dead by August.

Grandfather, was big into repairing Cadillac’s in Southern California.
He specialized in body work on Cadillac’s. He worked on a lot of cars for the movie stars in the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. He also did body work and paint for cars on TV shows and movies.
Elvis, came to my grandfather’s shop to get some work done on one of his cars. My grandfather treated him like a normal person no big deal for him.

Ummmmm, yeah, but if you got that out of what I posted above then you took it wrong.
She chose wisely because she knew Elvis was a man hooer ... everyone did. She wasn't impressed by Elvis. He was just another guy hitting on her from Humes but, of course he was a big deal by then. This happened before Love Me Tender and his military service if I remember correctly, but I dunno for sure, I can't remember all the details. I can probably get more details from her when I go by to check on her tomorrow.
It wasn't a big deal at the time, at least not to them. They stayed married ... Dad past late last year.
Elvis lived a fricked-up life. He was a weird dude, a Momma's boy, but he had a good heart. I remember when he would see poor people walking in Memphis and he would pull over and buy them a car.
Worst thing he ever did was living in Vegas in that den of inequity.
ETA: My Father was a greater man, a greater human being, than Elvis ever could have hoped to be and my father came from a far poorer background than Elvis and worked his way up as an honorable, ethical, man.

Kind of strong isn't it? How well did you know Elvis? I bet you never even met him. Also, your Dad's life was so different than Elvis Presley's they may as well have lived on seperate planets. Extreme fame like Elvis had would change 99.9% of us. Look up any video of the people that knew Elvis, friends, backup singers, band, etc....they all loved him.

I recorded the song “that’s alright” (Elvis’ first big hit recorded there) for kicks at sun studios using the very mic he sang into when he recorded that song (you used to be able to pay to do that).
The producer was so impressed he asked me to come back and record an entire Elvis album on their dime.

Elvis breaks up a streetfight in Madison, WI
quote:
One of Elvis Presley's most colorful exploits came near the end of his life, in the early morning hours of June 24, 1977, on the east side of Madison. He had just flown into town from a concert in Des Moines, Iowa, and was on his way to a Madison hotel when his limo stopped at a traffic light. Elvis saw a teenager on the ground, being attacked by two other youths at a gas station. According to the underwhelming monument that marks the site, Elvis sprang from the car and assumed "his classic karate stance, saying, 'I'll take you on.'"
"After a few classic karate moves by Elvis," the tiny monument continues, "the youths recognized him, stood, shook hands, and promised to stop fighting."
The story claimed that Elvis was still wearing his blue Elvis jumpsuit from his Des Moines concert (Others said it was a blue track suit emblazoned with "DEA Staff"). After posing for a few snapshots, Elvis climbed back into his limo and said, "Did you see those guys' faces?" Less than two months later, Elvis was dead.

Dad watched Elvis give an all time arse whoopin to a fella outside the rose in Bastrop one night. Only one kung fu fighting was Elvis.
I heard this story growing up. It was a former Bastrop cop named Harry Howard. Little guy. Elvis had played the BHS auditorium and was eating at Pippen's, (next door to the Rose Theater). The actual fight started in that covered parking area.
My oldest sister's best friend from high school claimed that she slept with Elvis after a show in Shreveport but I have no idea if that was true. She was generally full of shite but I thought she was hilarious when I was little. All dead now.
