Anybody ever dealt with Financial Indemnity Company(auto insurance)?

I was rear ended on Saturday, very simple accident where the other driver was 100% at fault. He has Financial Indemnity Company as his insurance, I called them about an hour after the accident to get the ball rolling on getting my car fixed. I go through the usual process of stating what happened, etc...they tell me they won't be able to start the process until the next business day which was Monday(today). I call this morning and have to go through the same 15 minute process of telling them what happened which I found a bit odd. I was also asked all sorts of questions about their insured(his name, DOB, DL#, description of his vehicle) which I found odd again.
Then I get to the ultimate question, what's your process for getting my car fixed, they tell me I can't do anything until they get a statement from their driver and I also have to wait for their inspector, oh and their computer system crashed twice and they have to call me back to complete process before I even get an inspection scheduled.
I've only been in one other accident and again the other driver was at fault but I had my car at a repair shop that afternoon(they did have all state) so I'm not too experienced with this. Should I just file through my insurance and let them fight it?

Take good photos of your damage now. If the car is still driveable I’d be patient with the other carrier. If car needs to be fixed ASAP I’d go through own carrier.

Sounds to me like you need to get Gordon and Git it Done. Or, in Woke 2020 you could get Juan LaFonta-he don’t play.

Damage isn't bad at all, we took photos of both cars at the scene, only problem is the brake lights is one big unit and is completely busted out so not driveable

That all sounds perfectly normal to me.

Call them back and tell them you are experiencing neck pain.

This has been my experience in dealing with Progressive & Geico. In both circumstances, I was able to bring my car to my mechanic and my mechanic just dealt with the adjusters.
Saw in a later post that you mentioned it was just your tail lights. When they do the inspection, you may want to make sure you have the tail lights and back bumper removed to make sure there isn't any other unnoticeable damage.

That's what happens when people try to get the cheapest policy possible. Those companies have to make cuts somewhere.

I used to be claims adjuster, and that's pretty standard process. No insurance company is going to pay a third party claim without trying to speak to their insured customer on the reported accident. I'd at least give it a few days.

Sounds very normal. If you are concerned about them, you can file a claim on your insurance and they will subrogate against the other carrier.

Financial Indemnity Compan
You got contact info?

Imagine if I called your insurance company on a weekend and claimed you caused an accident and wanted to know when and how they would pay my claim. Would you agree they should just tell me sure, no question we owe the claim, tell us how much we owe and send the check?
Or would you prefer they contact you first and confirm the facts, then schedule an inspection of my car.

Also Financial Indemnity Company is part of Kemper Insurance, so they're a legit company.

Do you have a police report?

I get being on edge because this company definitely sounds cheap but getting upset because they want to contact the other party first is kind of silly.
In response directly to OP give your agent a call and see what they tell you to do without directly filing a claim. That's what theyre there for.

Post a pic of damage. Replacing a tail/brake light assembly may be something you can do yourself and pocket some insurance money for your troubles

All the time. They are by far the worst insurer to deal with. That said, they are still going to properly investigate before paying. Get ready to be frustrated for the next two weeks.

I'm not upset at all and 100% understand they need to get his side of things. I've just never heard of the company and was getting some bad vibes, but it sounds like some people have heard of them so I will sit back and let the process continue.

A reputable repair shop will get any unseen damage covered.

Unless you can't be out of pocket for your deductible for a few weeks just file it with your insurance company and let the carrier deal with the subrogation. There is no need to spend the time and effort with another carrier.
