Yes, the big Dan show has taken off. He mostly films Orange Beach but does other locations too. Very enjoyable.

Judging by the popularity of the YouTube channels, a lot of people do.

I feel guilty sometimes laughing at it because I’ve had my share of boat ramp frick ups but the ones that get me are the dudes who roll up in a F-350 and a 300hp pontoon boat and haven’t the first clue how to launch or retrieve. It happens a shocking amount of times.

One morning, we launched in New Port Ritchey, Fl., in the water, tied to the dock, ready to go.

Marine Patrol launches beside us.in the water, two officers in command. I looked over to see their boat leaving the docks with no one in the boat.

Officer! I’ll bring your boat back, if you ignore my not having a fishing license. (Already heading out to bring his boat back.) we had our license.

Brought the boat back…..(long night wasn’t it?)
Then we left. Came back and they had not filled up before launching.
Still sitting away from the docks. Brought them to the arena….”.maybe you shouldn’t go out today.”

Slick boat ramps suck.

I don't have a boat, but you see lots of people slipping in these videos, and I guess I would think they would have better surfaces that close to the water.

It's also funny to see 2 WD trucks trying to pull boats from them.

Not gonna sugar coat it. I have INTENSE anxiety any time I back a trailer at a boat ramp and I have been doing it my whole life.

I just move super slow so a minor frick up doesn't become a major frick up and I can correct.

I damn near lost my jeep Grand Cherokee into the river. Too much bullshite at end of ramp, had breaks and emergency breaks on. And vehicle started to slide on its own, I got back in, and had to hit gas to get out, I was at. Water coming into tail gate and back seat door level, 1 more sec and I'm taking in water like gilligan and he skipper on their floating devices
Made my buddy, scrape the ramp, from all of the algae and pebbles making it slick
He ran the Marina

I always wondered how much money someone could make by sitting at these launches and charging to back the trailer down for the rich people that have more money than sense.

I have offered a time or two to do it for free and most of the time it pisses people off LOL...some have said yes please and thank you....

I do know for a certainty that one of the best ways to get invited back on someone's boat that has taken you fishing is to offer to get the trailer when you get back to the hill. Paying for gas and backing the trailer down the first time perfectly will almost always get you an invitation again. May have to offer on a couple of trips, most people assume, even if they know you own a boat, that if you are on theirs you can't back a trailer...but offer a couple of times and most will finally relent...and when they see you put the trailer in straight and deep enough that all they have to do is drive it on you are in like Flynn....it works the other way also, offer to load the boat if they don't want you to get the trailer. If you ain't confident though do neither LOL...nothing more frustrating than sitting in the boat watching your truck and trailer take 23 shots to get down the ramp....

Most ramps where water levels do not drop long enough to dry out are slicker than snot. Anyone who has ever backed a big enough boat down enough ramps knows the feeling of the brakes locked up and sliding down a snot slick algae covered ramp. It can go south in a hurry if there aren't curbs on the ramp to jack knife into LOL. I had a 26 foot CC with twin 200s on a bracket on a tandem axle trailer with brakes on both axles and my tow vehicle at the time was a Ram 3500 dually 4 WD and that boat and trailer would, at times, drag that big arse truck down a ramp with the trailer and truck brakes locked. Fortunately when the boat started floating the friction took over but it was always exciting when the tide was still falling at some ramps. If there are curbs on the ramp I ALWAYS hug one or the other even with small boats...if it starts sliding down the ramp I just turn the wheels into the curb and it stops. It ain't manly nor pretty but it has always ended with me and the truck dry and that is far more important....

There is a community boat ramp an 1/8th of a mile from where we are building a retirement home and a public ramp about 2 miles away. A person could get some seriously good footage of either one, especially on weekends. The trouble is this is red neck country....you would probably have to whup about half the folks you were videoing...you may have to whup a few of them just for waiting for them to launch or retrieve if they start having issues and get pissed off LOL....Ibe had a few encounters at both ramps just sitting in the truck patiently waiting and not even looking in their direction....never escalated into a fight but have had a few snide assed remarks tossed my way....

I'm always anxious when I back my boat or camper into a spot. I've never embarrassed myself (knock on wood), but I'm not as confident as others. That said, a small boat is easier IMO as I can see over the top of it as I'm backing in.

Also, I'm fishing/boating in the wrong spots, no thong wearing ladies around here.

The one under the Intracoastal Canal bridge in Port Allen can be an interesting watch after a day of drinking. It’s long, steep and narrow with other interesting elements around it. I’ve seen 2 boats put in at the same time there. It used to be in much worse shape than that too.

We used it as teens.
We saw the results of a dad that drop off his boat and left his young son holding the rope. Unfortunately, he dropped his boat off right after they opened the locks, and by the time he got back down, the boat was sitting high on the rocks.

Early ‘70’s I dated a girl whose dad had a camp at False River right at the boat landing.
I went an occasional weekend.
We went fishing early,at daylight, fish a couple hours, come back and eat breakfast.
Then we would sit in lawn chairs and watch people put their boats in and out of the water.
Some of the funniest shite you would ever want to see.

Only bass I ever caught there would be at the landing under the street light late at night.
Caught some pretty nice fish,2-4 lb’ers.

I used to love spending a Sunday afternoon at Fred’s on the River watching drunks try to load boats.

I have a lot of memories watching drunks load their boats at site 6 in Lake Havasu, AZ. It's a bunch of drunks heckling other drunks loading boats.
