Mine was about 230 on the house last month, and jumped to 530 for this past month. I've made some calculations on it today and cannot see how the hell we used more than double the amount. We've had an extra cold spell, but other than that it's been fairly normal for this time of year. How did 2 extra days of extreme cold kick it up that much? I'm hoping my meter was misread, checking when I get home.

Every time I think I have it bad I remember what a friend of mine who works in the accounting department at Nucor here in Tuscaloosa said the plants bill was.

Usually around 2.5 million dollars. A month.

Well no shite But they're overall turning a profit (I assume) and running a business with that.

That's what I was thinking. My gas bill is usually about $45 during the winter. My electric bill is another $210 or so typically.

Full electric. Normal bill is around $100 a month. Got my bill in three days ago that covered both cold spells. $220. I always take a hit in Jan and Feb due to heating. I have 9',12',15' and 17' ceilings. Not bad to have in the summer.

Yeah - you would have to have one helluva Christmas light display for it to have a significant impact on your electric bill.

Mine should be around $55, but I froze because I ran heat one day out of all the freezing days.

Just had to wear 2 sweatpants and 2 jackets for a week straight.

My heater is gas but the blower is electric. The constant use of the blower along with Christmas lights made for a slight jump in the electric bill.

Now my gas bill... highest it's been in the 6 years since I moved back to LA.

Mine was higher this past month than any other months. I’ve been in my house nearly 5 years now.

Me electric bill is dirt cheap in the winter. You must be poor if you don't run off gas.
