Even in Louisiana is it normal to be more expensive to heat a house rather than cool it with A/C in the summer?

No typically winter is the cheapest but it's been unusually cold this winter so far.

I have it thank god. It was starting to creep down close to december because I can usually tolerate colder temperatures without cutting any heat on but the last two months have really fricked me. I went from a steadily declining differential of like $50 and in two months I'm back up to like $150

$237

Normally in winter is is around 120 but our winter weather varies so much that it is hard to say what normal is.

You can call them and work out a payment plan if it is literally destroying you.

When me and my wife were poor, we signed up for the flat rate plan that is averaged and aggregated etc.

Also, welcome to adulthood! Your gonna become your dad real quick, flipping off light switches and bitching about doors being open too long.

My last electric bill was only $18.55--and our electricity here in DC isn't cheap.

But we have hot water heat so it's just the fridge, microwave, computer, lights, and chargers. Plus I was gone for a week and a half over Christmas.

You are doing it wrong if a couple hundred bucks leads to you being “absolutely destroyed”
