I have and it sucks.

Got the shot....knock on wood so far!

Different strain than the vaccination. Happened to our family one year. Shots were for Flu A and one son got Flu B. We all got on Tamils and 3 of us were spared.

Never had a flu shot and never had the flu.

But that's not how the flu shot works.

Flu shot doesn't protect against every single strain of the flu. And yes....there are more than one strain of influenza A.


Still a good idea to get the flu shot cause if you do get the flu...it will be a less severe case of it.


Also....if people would use some basic common sense....less people getting sick.

If you are sick...stay home. Don't be that guy that brags about not using sick time in 25 years at the office. Just stay the frick home until you are fever free (without the use of tylenol/motrin) for at least 24 hours.
Wash your hands. Frequently.
Keep your kids home from school if they are sick.
Clean high touch surfaces on a regular basis to avoid spreading illnesses around.
Use proper cough/sneezing etiquette. Cover your cough/sneeze...but if you do so with your hands....you need to wash/sanitize your hands afterwards. Best thing is to cough/sneeze into your upper arm.
Stay hydrated.
Get enough sleep.
Eat a proper diet.

Got the flu shot, no flu. I get the flu shot every year and never had the flu, 20+ years running. The flu shot is most commonly a quadrivalent vaccination too, two A- and two B-type strains so it's bullshite to claim the flu shot only takes last year's flu virus into account. The vaccination doesn't mean you can't get the flu, but it will lessen the severity which is reason enough to get the shot alone.

It's a roll of the dice as far as which strands you are exposed to in everyday life and which strands the shot was prepared for.

Keep your place sanitary as possible, keep germ-X at each sink and wash your hands as open as you can.

& last but not least, keep your finger out your butt.

I’d assume what myself and son have right now could be the flu but it’s weak compared to my past experiences.. no flu shot me this year.

I'm 41 and have never had the flu. I have to get the shot for work though. I have no opinion on its effectiveness.

Not an anti-Vaxer but there is no point in the flu shot. As soon as you take it a new strain develops that the shot isn’t resistant to. It’s a $$$ thing.
