I've had a beard for 6 years and use an electric for neck and trimming. Have contemplated recently on going to a razor for the neck/cheeks but don't want to haske with shaving cream.

Made the switch a few years ago and would never go back to a disposable. Better shave and much cheaper. I use a Merkur Futur handle with feather blades and C.O. Bigelow cream from Bath and Body Works which is green Poraso rebranded. Watch for sales and you can get a good deal. Other day their website had them buy 3 get 2 free so I got 5 tubes for 30.00.

This is my 3rd year with a DE razor. I'm on my second 50 pack of feather blades. About half way through I got a tub of Taylor's of old bond street ND have over a year left of that cream. I NEVER spend money on shaving anymore. I keep a beard and the DE razor is so much easier to keep a straight hair line. Its a few more secondo of prep time, but I can make 2 passes in the time I make 2 with a standard razor cartridge.

I have a full beard, I trim under & above it every day after I get out of the shower.
I don't use water to shave, my neck beard & the hairs above cooperate while still warm & moist from the shower.
I found KAI razors in Japan (they were at the Imperial Hotel) and this 5 pack at under $10 with shipping will last me at least five months.
If I shaved my whole face every day, I'd be more concerned and studying more options.

Just switched to this. Liking it so far

Yes sir. Merkur with Personna blades and Prosaro Sandlewood Shaving Soap. Good stuff.

Full Beard
Wal Mart brand multi blade razor, equate shaving cream.
Off brand beard trimmer that cost me like $22
I probably spend $6 a month on my beard and it looks every bit as "kept up" as people with bougie modern-but-not-modern "look at how sophisticated I am" setups.

I think you have convinced me to get that. I rock a full beard and I needed someone like me to tell me what to do.

Made the switch to a Merkur blade and 34C. Currently using Art of Shaving soap and creams..but after I run out I'll diversify (they seem gimmicky).
I'll change from Merkur blades later to a sharper blade, but these do for now. I know I've saved a shite TON of money over multi blades/shaving creams in a can since I've switched. Best decision ever...not to mention shaving with the grain and then across the grain (for me) gives me the smoothest shave ever.

Personna blades are way sharper...

BIC Chrome Platinum is the best blade I've found so far. More forgiving than Feathers and are smoother.

What about Feather?

I've used feather ones, but like Personna better - they are very sharp and hold their edge a little longer. Get one of those sample variety packs that has different ones if you can find it and try them out.

I'm bookmarking this to remember all these brands when I upgrade later.
I just started a couple of months ago. I got this Van Der Hagen kit to start:
with this Van Der Hagen Razor:
Grand total of about $40 with 10 Blades.

Have tried tons of blades including Feathers, Astras, etc. Gillete Silver Blue was best for my face

Get a sample pack of blades. Stay away from the 7am ones - shitshow for sure. I've stated my favorite. Try the Prosaro shaving soap. Good stuff.
I love the fact that for $10 you can get 100 blades - even if you use just one a week that's almost two years. Serious money saving...
