Got a saltwater aquarium with a 3 ft long one-eyed zebra moray eel and anemones. It’s fun to see it active in the evenings.

Friend of mine had a Burmese python. It got to be 10ft+. Built a habitat for it using plexiglass and a shower stall. would feed it rats and rabbits.

When he was getting married, it had to go. Audubon zoo took it and was the star of its show for years, biggest snake they had.

My grandfather had 2 chimpanzees back in the early 70's. He was the only one that could be around them, they would attack anyone else.

Mean arse animals. Screw a pit bull, either chimp would rip the head off a bulldog in about 5 seconds.

Give me the elevator pitch for Arrow frogs over Crested Geckos? The Gecko seems pretty easy.

I don't think I'd ever pull the trigger because they live for like 80 years. Thats just too long.

I never understood this.

Why not just let these animals live in their natural habitats to fend for themselves?

Always wanted a saltwater aquarium but have heard they are a royal pain in the arse.

Is it a daily maintenance deal?

My grandpa saved a squirrel from a cat attack and kept it for a pet for a long time when I was a kid.

I've had snakes, turtles, ferrets.

A hairless rat. A captured rattlesnake only had a few weeks, caught at my grandparents house and kept in an aquarium with mice. An alligator, only had a few days and my parents made me dump him in a canal, i caught him in spillway. . A Conure and a Ball python.

Brightly colored small frogs, known for being poisonous...They're all bred now, so no poison in their diet, but IMHO, thats a pretty cool point..

I don't know, never really thought about it like that.
I guess the same way people with aquariums enjoy fish.

I just think he looks cool.

Especially when just creeping around in his tank.
and he's extremely violent when attacking the crickets I feed him. Amazing how fast he pounces.

same with the snake, except we do take the snake out and let him roam around on my desk or on a counter by his tank.

I had a black widow and a scorpion when I was younger.

Scorpion was pretty cool to watch under black light.

Black widow was pretty lame and when an egg sack appeared, mom made me put her down.

I was informed the other day by neighbor that we have a tarantula migration thru the area. Haven’t seen any yet and I’ve let the neighbors know if my house is on fire to let it burn, there’s one in there I can’t find.

However, consider Tiger Mike - a habitat is his natural terrain. He'd probably die or be killed if you 'returned' him to the wild.

I would say a salamander is an exotic pet.

Back in the 60s we got a baby caiman from the reptile farm on old 90 east of NO. Came in a little box with spanish moss. Nasty little thing. Teeth like little needles and liked to bite. Amazingly, Mom said it escaped one day while we were at school.
