Do they get it Garnished out their paycheck?

Here’s the backstory…

This chick was hanging out with us this weekend was complaining that she couldn’t get her ex husband to pay on time or the full amount…. Which sucks for her bc apparently he makes big money. He just Venmo’s when he wants how much he wants.

She just said a foreign company pays him so judge/court had no way to collect. She also said company didn’t offer health ins coverage for his family just him...
I thought it was bs but I wasn’t going to argue with her over something I have no exp with.

Anybody know how this works?

Good for him, sounds like she can't take the man for everything he has.

White knighting for some single mom you don’t even know is a bad look. Get ahold of yourself

No matter how hard you white knight, she's not going to sleep with you bro.

If this marriage ended like the statistics show. She likely initiated the divorce because she thought she could be single and still live that housewife lifestyle because her ex makes $120k a year working for BP or a Saudi company.

They can comply or not. There are no such mechanisms in place to make a foreign company garnish wages.

And mostly they don’t because it’s not free to have a payroll provider garnish wages and then send that money to the correct jurisdiction……and with international payroll providers it’s a real pain in the arse!!!

His company deposits his pay into his bank account. A routing number and acct number for his ex is all they need to put a percentage or dollar amount to that account as well. No different than if he had a percentage or amount going to his savings account and checking.

I been there. Now she's broke and can't get ahead. It's her choice. She made her bed, she can lie in it.

But if he ever returns to the states he would have to pay back child support plus interest. Failure will result in jail time I believe.

Low man on the totem pole makes more than that overseas typically.

I’ve got several on my crew that just got back and more than likely did something similar it appears. All have had court via computer screen in the last couple weeks. They are all having to pay whatever they are in arrears.

As far as insurance, I’d be surprised if they don’t offer a family plan. They throw all kinds of benefits to get you to go overseas.

After 9/11 I got flagged and was put in "the room" in Miami Airport about a dozen times when I flew back in the country. Eventually got it straightened out, some fella with my name wanted for a felony out in California.

Ran into some real characters, one fella named Jose, knew everyone in immigration, they were all greeting him. Was from Cali and had the same name as one of the cartel fellas, he said he had been in "the room" a couple hundred times in the last 20 years.

But you also ran into a lot of fellas going through divorces and for various and sundry reasons, whatever their wife had filed, had stopped them from freely entering the country. Id think child support, they would love to hold your arse.

I know a German guy who got divorced here in the States and moved back to Germany to primarily avoid paying child support/ alimony.
However, he did pay some.
