Any chance that we could host a World Cup game in South Louisiana?

What locations could possibly work? Only The SuperDome and Tiger Stadium?
It would be awesome to sell boiled crawfish, crabs, shrimp, squid, etc. to thousands of foreigners. Gumbo, jambalaya, fried fish, frog legs, fried alligator, and Etouffe would be big sellers too.
Come on Jeff Landry! Make it happen!

TS was looked at but didn't qualify. It wasn't wide enough.

Cant fit a soccer field in the Superdome. Plus it needs to be natural grass and other than one preseason game vs Green Bay years ago, it can't happen.

We already have the jambalaya world championship. What more do you really need?

Dome isn’t natural grass which hurts it for soccer.
TS probably has some field challenges as well.
I suppose you could pump a billion dollars into Tad Gormley if you were really desperate to host a World Cup game.

Imagine the soccer crime on top of the normal crime there... Yikes

Atlanta, Dallas, Vancouver and Houston are domes and currently have natural grass surfaces and have not opened the roof. Natural grass can be maintained inside the dome for several weeks if needed.

Make what happen? The World Cup sites were decided years in advance

No chance from here on out that New Orleans gets any future World Cup games. You have to have a built in soccer structure already in place along with being a huge market. There is no MLS soccer team in New Orleans. FIFA demands this for the countries to have practice facilities to set up shop at & practice at. Plus Chicago, Phoenix, Charlotte, & Tampa were all passed over. If those cities didn't make the cut then New Orleans definitely has no shot.
The only reason KC got picked is because the Hunt family has huge sway in the world soccer community & they have a soccer infrastructure to handle the teams.

The powers that be in LA are too cheap for FIFA bribes. Obviously, they're not totally cheap when it comes to sports. They'll pay an 18 year old seven figures to play football or eight figures to make a coach leave town, but there ain't no way in hell they're offering more than low five figures to a fart-sniffing FIFA rep.

They're taking hydration breaks in SoCal. Europeans would turn into puddles in South Louisiana

It's absolutely incredible that Chicago is not a part of this. It's one of our great cities. Truly stupid politicians in that place
