Lab grown diamonds are a cheap version of natural diamonds that no jeweler will buy or buy back, making it worth very little on resale market.
It’s the equivalent of buying a knockoff Rolex for $500. It looks like a Rolex, but there’s a reason it wasn’t 8k or more and has no true resale value.
The real sucker is the person who buys the lab diamond thinking it’s a bargain. Buy moissanite or CZ, no reason to pay a lot for something that won’t hold any value. Paying more for a better fake makes no sense.
As for not being able to tell, that’s false. If it was difficult to tell, they would be flooding the market with lab diamonds and mined diamond prices would collapse. I’ve even noticed a blue tint with lab grown.

Not looking to sell the wife’s engagement ring, but it was appraised for insurance purposes and was valued almost $1,200 over what we paid.
Are you a jeweler or just talking out of your arse?

Went through this looking for an emerald cut diamond which means any inclusions were very visible. I noticed the lab grown diamonds had noticeably more impurities even though they had identical clarity ratings, especially as you get above 1.5 carats.
This.
Went emerald cut natural diamond, and the extra paid was worth it. Bought a high quality stone.

Why would I give a shite if it ever needs to be resold? If that’s happening it is over.

Lol. Even a diamond jew cant tell difference with his eye
You have to use electron microscopy or something because lab grown are “too perfect”

I prefer my diamonds first pass through the calloused bloodied hands of a Sierra Leonean child.
Mine come with a picture of the child who mined them. Can’t get more authentic than that. Better than the picture of the geek in the lab who grows those.

A 3.5 ct D quality in natural diamond would run greater than 100k. The same thing in lab grown would be under 15k.
What kind of diamond rarity is the diamond cabal pushing for a small piece of crystal that will some day get lost or stolen or sold at steep when discount when she dumps your arse?

Diamonds haven’t been rare commodities since 1870. But, for a long time they were viewed as symbols of wealth, power and decadent romantic dreams—a stone too precious and expensive to attain, if you weren’t part of the wealthy elite.
That all changed when the jewelry retailer De Beers and the shrewd creatives at N.W. Ayer & Son unveiled the brilliant “A Diamond Is Forever” campaign. The tagline forever changed public attitudes about diamonds being reserved only for the rich. And ended up creating a diamond demand by convincing people that no marriage is complete without a diamond ring. In 1999, Ad Age named “A Diamond Is Forever” the number one slogan of the century.

I bought a loose 5 carat oval cut lab diamond for $5,250 and had a band made for $1,300. $6,550 in total, that could barely get me a 1 carat real, “blood diamond” ring.

JEWELER JEAN DOUSSET
JD says even the most seasoned gemologists cannot tell the difference between lab-grown and natural diamonds ... and they're both graded on the same scales under the same rules and principles.
It's pretty interesting to consider ... seeing as there's controversy surrounding engagement rings these days. Based on what Jean's telling us here, it sounds like a man would be able to safely pass off a lab-grown diamond engagement ring as a natural one and the woman would never know.

The only chemical difference is nitrogen in a natural diamond. You’re paying for nothing by getting a “real” one. It’s completely for suckers.
Do you like your meat 3D printed too?
I mean it’s the same composition as natural meat right?

I am trying to grow my own right now.
Have a friend who is such a tight arse I am feeding them coal right now in the hope of farming diamonds when they poop.

The bigger lab diamond is the better investment.
Not true. The value of lab grown has plummeted. There is much better investment value in natural diamonds.

I don’t have a lab diamond and have no skin in the game, but this isn’t categorically true. I checked the James Allen website since my ring was purchased there, and they have the same trade up policy for their lab diamonds as they do for earth mined.
Resale value for any diamond is garbage. You’d be lucky to get 25% of what you paid if you try to sell it yourself.

Exactly
One one hand the OT shits on real diamonds because they arent really scarce and deBeers artificially makes supply limited
On the other hand the OT shits on lab grown as fake

You know nothing. They will not appreciate in value, but there is a secondary market for them. I play golf with a private jeweler, and he said by real for the finger and lab grown for the earrings.

That appraisal is based on the replacement cost of a diamond at retail. If you tried to sell it, you’d get about 25% of what you paid.
Imagine buying a new F150 Raptor for $100k, and the instant it rolls off the lot it is worth $25k, while your insurance policy and premium is based on $100k.
