But if you are going to go through the trouble of wearing a mask at all, why not attempt to use that that offers some protection?

That's what's breaking my brain as well.

guess that's the point of contention. And I've been on record with this before so no need to get into it here, but we know what we need to do to slow the spread of it. People are just too selfish or stupid to do it. People say that democrats want to shut everything down to ruin the economy, but we were in phase 3 here in Chicago for a while and have recently gone to phase 4. It's working because everyone wears a mask inside and people take the distancing seriously. Same goes for NY, though I'm not sure what phase they're in. I do know their cases are remaining SUPER low.

It has alot to do with the fact that we took a "follow the leader", one size fits all approach to shutting down our country. You had some states that were legitimate hotspots that were being seriously strained, and other states that barely had any real community spread. Our solution? We shut every state and county down. We nearly sank the economy and people got fed up with it before many states even had a "first wave".

So, we had to open everything up with and sacrifice the prospect of any more nuanced closures going forward.

Add in the numerous stories every day of bungled reporting and testing across multiple states, and you have our reality now.

That's not entirely true.

I hope so, but I haven't seen many infectious disease specialists with this opinion.

7. Washington

8. New Mexico

9. New York

All in the top ten death rates per million

You are seriously sinking. Just admit you don't know as much as you think you do.

There is no correlation between policy, death rates and case count. Every state measures differently. Every state tests differently. Every state has different demographics. Every state has a different climate and were hit by the virus at varying times. We don't know anything about the virus other than it kills old unhealthy people in high population density areas.

What the frick is that supposed to mean?

Would you like the EC if it favored Dems despite losing the popular vote by millions?

I'm under the assumption that a lot of Trump votes in 2016 were really "not Hillary" votes. Do you disagree?

Absolutely. People who didn't like Hilary typically didn't like Trump either. They simply didn't vote.

I am also under the assumption that a significant portion of dems stayed home because Hillary had it "in the bag". Do you disagree?

It's totally different this time since Biden is leading though.

Look up any polls about the American public's sentiment on Trump's handling of the virus.

Ummmm...I thought that the Dems said Trump had no Federal authority when it came to the virus everything had to be handled on the state level. You don't get to say that then blame Trump for the virus.

I blame Garcetti and Newsom for the total frick-up that is California. Not Trump's fault the people out here elected these 2 nit wit morons.

Jesus H you are a moron. Look at the CURRENT death rates per capita. That is the leading indicator of the effectiveness of the interventions.

As I posted just a second ago, the death rate in Louisiana the last 5 days is about three times that of Illinois.

I support the electoral college because it doesn't let large metropolitan areas, like California and New York, dominate the election process.

This was done for a reason.

This is why you need to learn the difference between could and would.

He was the one who could've limited travel and other stuff like that when we knew about it. And I think it would largely be for his rhetoric around it. Minimizing the prevalence, impact, spread, need for interventions of any kind, attacking state governors and mayors, etc. which affected how people responded at their own personal level. And I think he's likely been pulling strings with certain governors behind the scenes as well.

Alright baws, I'm out. Good talk.

Toof, I'll see you in the FBD.

No, it's different this time because they got burned in 2016.

No sense arguing. I'm just telling you the things that favor dems this time (less complacency, anybody other than Hillary) and the thing that favors Trump (it's still fricking Biden). It's just hard to imagine Biden not getting more votes than Hillary did, all things considered. Whether that results in an EC victory, who knows. If you want to make up shite about polls and feelings, go right ahead.

I get what you are saying and it might be right. However, it is fair to consider that the difference is based on the timing of the spread in those locations. One could reasonable argue, like privateer is, that the virus is moving through different locations on a similar curve regardless of restrictions designed to slow it.

Keep melting why you look even more dumb.

The current death rate per capita in Texas and Florida is 13 and 24. That's where the cases are rising the most and what your media overlords tell you. For reference the 10th highest deaths per million is 55.
