For 2015 or all orders total?
Since 01012013.

Yes it is.
Is it really? I know USPS claims they receive no tax dollars directly, but I did read an article that estimates an annual value in dollars of some of USPS's privileges (exclusive mailbox access, tax breaks, and cheap federal loans).

More and more "prime" items are not able to be delivered in the "guaranteed" two day window. Amazon knows this, but they are letting more sellers list their items as prime eligible even though it can guarantee the two day shipping anymore.
LINK
So You pay $99 a year for "guaranteed" shipping, only for them not to live up to their end of the bargain. Even thought they are aware that they are not living up to their end of the bargain, they figure most people won't bitch about it. That's chicken shite if you ask me.

I didn't click your link. I'd rather use my personal experience to make a judgement.
I might have had 3 orders out of several hundred have an issue. Each time was bad weather delaying the shipping company's driver. I'm certainly not going to hold that against Amazon. The packages were on the trucks on time. Mother nature is a bitch.

Could have a free student membership like I do

I don't think the 2 day is guaranteed. None of the carriers guarantee deliver even if you pay for it. I've spend $50 on over night only to take 3 days and fedex told me tough luck

Tell me again how paying them a $99 membership fee each year equates to being "free"...
Exactly. Unless the OP is spending over $99 dollars a year in shipping, only then it would beneficial in doing that. But then again maybe it has more benefits I'm not aware of?

Also includes prime TV and music

It's one of the reasons why they continue to get my business, because they will do whatever it takes to make things "right."
They'll make it "right" until they decide you are too much trouble and then ban you from using Amazon at all. There are tons of threads about this on Reddit and Amazon's own forums.
I use Amazon often, but it's gotten to the point that I'm afraid to return something or contact them b/c something was a day or two late for fear they'll revoke my privedge to give them my money. It's insane really
I've begun doing a lot more shopping locally too b/c Amazon is no longer the lowest price juggernaut it once was either.

Taxes, for one. The value of your time, travel costs, etc.
Kind of like a membership to Costco or Sam's club.

Most states, if not all, have a "consumer use tax" that applies to Internet sales and has to be paid when taxes are due. Sorry if you've been breaking the law.

For every one of your stories, there is bad story. Ordered an album from them for Christmas (I am Prime member for many years). They send me wrong album. No big deal; send it back; get it reordered. So I do that. They send me the wrong album again. I call Amazon and they tell me to return latest shipment and buy from someone else. So I did. Working in the retail industry myself; it kind of shocked me she told me to shop somewhere else haha.

I love me some customer service. Will even pay extra knowing I am getting it.

A lot of truth to that, easy to have a great do anything attitude when you are burning other peoples money - kind of like a certain political party or two...
