Radio said there was no getting around the accident and to find an alternate route.
Traffic in this city is an absolute nightmare. I found Houston traffic easier to deal with.

Move to a city that has real traffic and stop complaining.

Agreed! There is a lot of disgust towards Houston and commute times here but if your in NW Houston and need to go downtown you have several options. Or basically anywhere in Houston, I use Google maps every day and almost everywhere I go.
Accident in BR and routes are very limited and your stuck.

If only Baton Rouge employed some traffic engineers to work on these types of problems.
If only...

Drove past that train wreck going east bound this morning around 7:15. Not a car passing around

You need to come the Lake Charles. They just started a 1 year project on I-210 where both east and west bound lanes are down to one lane. Gridlock on both 210 and I-10 bridges. Took an hour to get over I-10 bridge this morning at 5:30 a.m.

It is really hard to drive on a straight flat road without running into another car.

Rats! Stranded here in the Aston going nowhere.

The engineer who designed the I10 bridge (new bridge) is a Texas A&M grad. That may explain a lot of the problems.

A metro area 8x bigger than Baton Rouge has more road options? I find that hard to believe.

38% of the state’s roads are in poor or worse condition; 1,821 bridges are structurally deficient or functionally obsolete; 15% of the state’s bridges are “substandard” and the state had the 12th highest in the nation highway fatality rate in 2017.
Its not a problem until that 38% hits 60% so the roads are fine. I blame it on the drivers who don't know how to drive.

The interstate accidents are always the fault of bad driving.
I'd be willing to bet most accidents on the interstate stem from slow driving in the left lane.
