Flock audit reveals officer tracked ex 2,000 times

SHIVELY, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Shively police officer faces criminal charges after an audit revealed he’d allegedly been using the department’s Flock automated license plate system to track the mother of his child. According to the Shively Police Department on Wednesday, Aug. 26, Officer Asad Zahir was placed on unpaid administrative leave and charged with five counts of official misconduct and five counts of fourth-degree unlawful use of a computer.

All those cameras and not one pic of the woman

If she was from Shively, I don’t know that you’d want me to do that.

If they were serious about easing people's concerns about flock, then they would actually punish these offenders, instead of giving them a slap on the wrist. But they don't gaf about people's concerns.

Men have been trying to figure out if their woman is fricking somebody else too for thousands of years. Flock is way too tempting. Some of these cops never stood a chance.

Per the police department, the audit flagged that Zahir’s account had searched for two vehicle registrations 2,048 times through Jan. 1 and May 2, 2026.
This period is going to have issues pop up for awhile as more audits take place.
They handed out logins like it was just getting registration info along with any flags on it from a plate read by cop pulling someone over, seeing something suspicious with a vehicle, or while stopped at lights like prior plate readers did.
The patrol cop pulling someone over or running plates at stops needs access to registration and alerts on vehicle or any on possible driver/owner of it not it’s historical location data.
You would think Flock would have trained and/or set up logins with different levels of access along with controls like accessing location data only allowed when tied and logged to active investigations in the system, amber or other missing persons alerts, or with a warrant (should also have tighter audits on plates manually entered versus a reader on a patrol car automatically reading plate), but they didn’t or were just ignored by many departments across the country setting this up.

Another day? Is this like a daily occurrence? This is the first time I’ve ever seen it.

A few isolated incidents compared to the overall use of the technology.
What about all these teachers getting caught in relationships with students? We are not talking about getting rid of teachers lol
Harsher punishments, better accountability, more restricted use of the technology, more transparency, etc.

The good news is that these audits are helping us find the dirt bags.

It's frequent enough, it's definitely a larger issue. But that's not the only issue with Flock and ensuring data is utilized appropriately.

If they get caught they're typically catching charges (and end up posted on here

The problem is that many of these things are not happening where they need to happen. Such as who is accessing and what they're accessing.

Ill never understand this behavior. you lost your turn bro. let it go. all you're going to do is cause yourself more pain.

That's a weak strawman. Your argument should be that we dont close down the school system because of a few bad teachers. (And that wouldn't work either, because too many of us would like to see the whole public school system burned down.)
