Did you miss the part where I posted these were long term rentals through airbnb? They've all three been living there for around a year so far.

Which is legal almost anywhere....if its through Airbnb or not. If you rent long term through AIrbnb you are just an idiot on both sides, paying a 3rd party like Airbnb for nothing.

Those neighbors you don't like have every right to be there in almost any HOA rule or law.

I'm against buying a house and converting it into a hotel, so mostly short term rentals. Like the house by me, it's a 4 bedroom home so once these idiots finally leave, I'll have to worry about what other crazy assholes decide to start living there. It's simply not fair to a homeowner that has invested in a quiet neighborhood to have to deal with shite like this because some out of state dick bought a house and turned it into Hotel California.

If I wanted to live next door to a La Quinta, I would have bought a home next to one.

But you don't even know what you are talking about here.

FWIW, many areas have rules against multiple families living under the same roof which could apply to your issue. Basically you can have two roomates at most, and sometimes not even that. Some rules restrict it to just a single family.

Wut? An opinion isn't wrong or right, it's my opinion. What the hell are you talking shite about? I haven't debated the legality of it at all.

Yeah, if I wanted to research the legality of it, this is probably where I would start.

We been trying to ban 6 month rentals in our neighborhood for sometime. I hate it, all these houses getting bought up for short term leases. I never know who my neighbors are and its a roll of the dice what quality neighbor they are.
this is so bad in our city that my particular neighborhood has had the last few homes that sold (including ours) never be listed. The neighbors spread the availability word of mouth and vetted the neighbors. There was no negotiation, if you want in you pay sellers asking price.

Well people are more transient than ever before especially with the proliferation of remote work from home jobs.

The concept of the forever home is very outdated.

Look up Doubles to Dorms in New Orleans.

There’s a house, actually several, that was converted into a 10br/10bath house in the middle of the neighborhood

They skirt the rules and find the loopholes and there’s no enforcement

Holy shite. I'd definitely just sell and move at this point.

It’s Tulane and Loyola fault for not providing adequate housing for their students

I dont understand the problem or why government is getting involved. Are people shooting pornos in these properties or something?

I get that after reading the article, but I just couldn't deal with that. What a crazy story and it'll be interesting to see who wins. Like like the city council keeps adding restrictions that they're hoping will stop them.

Bachelor/bachelorette parties

I know in some parts of Houston, some folks enjoy renting these out in the middle of the week and throw parties that cause havoc. HOAs across Texas have been cracking down.

Not according to 100 years of US Supreme Court decisions. Additionally, local laws passed by almost every city in the US say otherwise. All zoning isn't great, but its legal, and I believe necessary.

Well you got me there. I guess I will have to stop reading about constitutional law from people like Thomas Jefferson, John Locke, and James Madison and just follow these liberal Ivy Leaugue trained judges instead.

Local zoning isn’t socialism, it’s just governance. Same as having the sheriff come enforce your private property rights against some trespassers. Also not socialism.

I didn’t buy into the richest zip code in Louisiana just to wind up living next to some duck farm.

Wow, look at you. You’re such a gigachad. You to have to fend off the girls or otherwise you’d be drowning in all that pussy.

Yes it is and those scenarios are entirely different. I guess you think government expropriation is "governance" too.

The apartment next to mine is an AirBnB. In 2 years, I haven’t had many issues. A Paki couple was mad about me smoking outside on the porch, they were politely told to chill out as I played Hank and grilled cow meat.

The 7 Hebrews, decked with full curls, were probably the worst.

The 8 chicks who came for their spring break last year was a fun time.

I could go on about others, they’re mostly all nice. Vacationing and wanting to have fun, I’m not an uptight a-hole. I’ll be nice and they’ll usually leave me their extra liquor, beer and food for being friendly.

Until someone sees that next to your house and you place becomes impossible to sell.

Simple concept. The right to do what you want until it infringes on my right.
