They’ve gotten to be just as expensive as hotels

Ehh I just stayed at a condo on a golf course for cheaper.

You a comparing a room with beds and a bathroom in it to renting a house or a condo that has separate bedrooms, multiple bathrooms and a full size kitchen.

Nah, they ain’t more expensive than hotels.

Airbnb has turned into shite. It used to be “cheap way to get multi bedroom lodging” to “gimp hotel with more red tape and less amenities”.

I’d rather stay in a hotel 10/10 times

This is where I'm at.

Airbnb is only a consideration if we are traveling with a substantial group. But even then, hotels are starting to be more attractive.

Idk....but whatever the solution I will never agree that government intervention is it.

The solution is shut down the party houses but dont ruin this entire concept. I love renting a house for a week and working from there, experiencing the local scene. I am not working from a hotel room. I dont get the hate on here for AirBNBs. We all use them, or if not, youre wasting money on small hotel rooms.

If you’re in a touristy area, you’re going to have a very different perception of Airbnb than people in a mostly residential area.

It flat out sucks when when some investor turns a house in your quiet residential neighborhood into a weekend party house. If I wanted to live next to a no-tell motel or ghetto nightclub, I could. But I don’t want that, and I don’t want airbnb fricking up my neighborhood.

They did something similar in my town. If you owned a two family home, one of the units had to be the permanent residence of the owner. Someone on the city council told us the workaround, just change your license to that address.

We own the house next door to us, two family and rented one of them as an Airbnb for a few seasons.

Got out of it after that and got a full time tenants, much less headache.

How much y’all think I can get a sweet beach house for in the next 5 years when this fad fades away completely

I’m not in favor of any zoning

Unless you live on 500+ country acres zoning isn’t a bad thing. It’s hard telling someone what the can’t do with their property but planning and zoning are designed to save the many from the damage of a few.

Easy credit thanks to our failing economic policies is the real evil in the room. Just wait until all these thinly capitalized, over-leveraged ‘investors’ have to buy a roof or an hvac system… and they can’t finance it.

So we all have to lose out on this option rather than targeting the party homes?
