Back then I had a 6p-2a shift on Mondays then a turn around 12p-8p on Tuesdays.. I remember the phone ringing off the hook...I finally got up to answer and it was GF screaming "we are under attack..turn on the TV".. I am not a good morning person and was thinking WTF is she talking about..I turned on the TV to see the second tower hit..

Those audio transcripts of air traffic control and the military are crazy.

This video of students in the NYU dorms always stood out to me. One girl is on the phone with her mom trying to figure out why the 1st tower is burning.

Grew up on Long Island. I had family in/near the towers and classmates who were NYPD/FDNY
All but 1 classmate survived. One family member was SHOOK for a long time bc he saw numerous ppl fling themselves out of windows. He couldn’t get over the god awful THUD when those bodies impacted the ground

I was a youngin when all his happened and remember my mother picking us up from school crying. I get said listening and watching all these things from that day and then get angry. We should save a target every year and bomb the frick out of them on September 11th at the same times the planes hit.

I was 23 at the time. I was getting dressed for work and had the news on in the background. I had just moved back from NYC 3 months or so earlier.
I watched the 2nd tower get hit live on TV. We all realized what was going on at that point and it clearly wasn't some small commuter jet.
At the time, I worked in downtown BR and my boss called me and told me not to come in that day. I stayed glued to the coverage all day long. Watching those people jump so they didn't burn alive still makes me shudder to think about. I remember this one couple holding hands while they did it
Hard to believe that it's been 19 years.

If I’m not mistaken that’s in the museum — is that the Miracle Staircase? Google that for info .. I don’t want to mess the story up.

That’s the original stairwell of one of the towers I believe. It’s at the 9/11 memorial museum.
Yes, miracle staircase that’s it

Was in 1st period Spanish class in a suburban Atlanta high school, one of the other teachers came into the classroom and asked her "Did you hear about what happened in New York?" and my teacher turned on the TV. I originally thought it was a massive office fire in the North Tower (didn't hear the word "plane" yet) until we saw (live) Flight 175 slamming into the South Tower. At that point, we knew it wasn't an accident.

This is the longer version of The Early Show where they said “it’s too quiet” and the Bryant Gumbel interview with the lady in a skyscraper in Chelsea watching as the second plane hit the WTC is so eerie. It’s starts around 30:35.

Was in 8th grade, never will forget that day.
If you ever are in New York, make sure to stop by the 9/11 museum, one of the more solemn experiences I have ever had.
