I was a senior and there were so many rumors that we were all going to get drafted
Thank god I didnt have the choice
Sidenote, my dad was 45 at the time, and he went down to the Army recruiting building and tried to sign up and they basically told him to GTFO

I remember going dove hunting in Mexico 2 weeks later watching in a Mexican hotel Bush give his speech

that morning after watching the news for a few hours and getting sick of what I was seeing I went to the blood center in donated blood. Then I stopped by the Hobby Lobby and bought all the small American flags they had and went to a big intersection and started passing them out.It was pointless but on a day like that you had to try to do something I think we all felt helpless but something about being helpless is you reach out to those around you and support one another that was another important lesson which their sacrifice taught us.

For those interested in the timeline, a couple of interesting reads.
The Auburn Alumni Facebook is posting a timeline of Will Jimeno. He is one of the 39 Port Authority Police Department Officers who went into the WTC that day. Only he and one other came out. His daughter is a 2019 Auburn alum, and he donated a piece of WTC steel to the University.
Also, every year on the anniversary former WH Press Secretary Ari Fleischer posts a timeline of Bush and the group with him.

Man thinking back its crazy how odd those times were
I was going to school across the street from where one of my older sisters went(CHS and SJA), and so my dad put my hunting rifle in her car under the back seat so if anything happened to the schools I could access it during the day
So weird to think about that

Except TSA didn't change much. I had a box cutter go through 2 airports a couple weeks ago without anyone catching it. I forgot about it until I unpacked at home.

That day was horrible. Those bastardized came an attacked OUR country... there are many haunting visions of that day. But ONE I remember most was a shot of one of the towers where there were people on floors above where the plane hit and they had no place to go... the next day in the USA Today they showed that picture with a one word caption.”DOOMED”. Heart wrenching........

I work in a survivors of 9/11 clinic. Today sucks. Don’t forget those who now have cancers and chronic respiratory issues on top of PTSD.

I just think the uncertainty was that great for a short period
I remember there being alot of talk about how south La was actually a big target due to our oil etc etc
So I can remember my dad being on alert, and then the catholic school angle etc etc. Not sure what he thought I was going to do though? Snipe the bastards out from the SJA parking lot with my 30-06?

We were scared as shite they were going to hit barksdale but then they locked the base down and the president flew there so we figured it was the safest place on Earth at that time.

I don’t believe this.
There are plenty of articles demonstrating the ineptness of the TSA.

I remember that as well.
I recall a Muslim guy, older man, going around campus, in the quad near Middleton, talking to people to make sure they realized all Muslims weren't like that, or something.
Not sure how effective or smart his endeavor was at the time.

Yeah they fail the undercover tests routinely.
It's all theater.
