Okay, I just saw the other thread with the video that showed more. When I look at something and think "how would I have handled it" me at the age of the kid fishing would have likely made the situation a lot worse because there is a point where, in my head, I would have said to myself "this mother fricker is trying to intimidate me. Let him know you don't just go around approaching people the way he just approached me". I would have egged it on and something would have happened that if I would have just kept my mouth shut, would have not happened. So the kid handled it the right way.
I am not sure what the boat captain was trying to accomplish. He don't accomplish anything going up to someone and just start yelling. Its more effective if you just go up to someone and say "hey buddy, my name is ______. Look, earlier I came through here and there was a boat with no lights and I didn't see them at first. I am not sure if it was your or someone else, but I just ask that you folks have a light on until its visible for other boaters to see you under there". The kid says "that wasn't me, but I know the guy in the other boat and I will absolutely tell him to have a light on. Thank you".
Instead, when you start yelling people automatically think "frick him" so they are more likely to go out of their way to not do what it is you are asking them to do.

That guy is a grade A dickbag. Kid was reasonable for the yelling he endured. Step foot on my boat in that manner and things go bad.

Man, frick that "war veteran" guy. He's an unhinged lunatic. I don't even care who was in the wrong with the initial interaction with the lights/no lights, that behavior is unacceptable.
And frick his friends for letting him board that kid's boat. You already gave the kid a good tongue lashing, just leave the frick at that and drive away. That kid had every right to defend himself (and with deadly force if necessary) once that dude boarded his craft.
I hate the "bro" thing as much as everyone else, but that kid handled that fairly well all things considered. And regardless of lights and whatnot, if that dude flew through that pass while other people were fishing (which the kid says he did have his lights on), then he's an a-hole anyway for doing that and deserved to be bitched at in the first place.

The charter boat captain should just be hung from the bridge. Total waste of oxygen.

Man oh man, so much to take from this one and pretty much all of it is bad for the guide. I won't speak on who was right or wrong on the initial morning drive thru or whatever happened because we didn't get to see that but other than that.......
1) Guys who cuss and make threats like that 99/100 aren't very tough at all. They're trying to use intimidation to get you to back down whereas guys who are actually tough will tell you one time and then get real quiet after that.
2) I'm not sure what the laws are about entering another person's boat like that but I'd have to imagine it's something similar to carjacking or home invasion. He's lucky he didn't get shot.
3) I hope he goes bankrupt and loses everything his fishing "business" has. It's people like that that ruin the outdoors for everyone.
4) What an insufferable douchebag. What's this guys name? I'd love to see some social media and forum posts dragging this dude.

That kid should get an award.

I'm interested to hear from someone what these laws are in Louisiana. I'd imagine castle doctrine would apply. He was being very threatening and definitely fricking around trying to find out.
Kid did good though. He de-escalated it. At that age, just me and a-hole who boarded MY boat? One of us is catching an arse whipping and going swimming.
