A lot of people on here predicted this would be the next goalpost shift in terms of keeping some level of restriction.

Mass vaccination been the openly stated policy for nearly a year.

That was defined as the benchmark for phase 4 (normal) since summer at least

Herd immunity shouldn't be 75% vaccinated.
it will never get to 75% and by the time you got anywhere near that so much time will have gone by that boosters will be needed for those that have already gotten it

it is unattainable and they know that

I'm sure the city will tell Biden and JBE they need another bailout and will get a blank check that they'll piss away. Business owners will continue to obey, go out of business, then blame republicans and racism as to why they can't open while declaring NO is the best city on the planet with great leadership.

Yep, the apologists will be here directly to defend the city and tell us how awesome things are.

We have quite a bit of villages in my part of Alaska that are more than 60+% vaccinated, yet there are still massive restrictions in travel and gathering.

Doom and gloom out here is that in some (5) of the communities with lower vaccination rates (30-40%) are having some outbreaks.

So from my experience, OP is correct so far. Restrictions will continue even if a majority of the population is vaccinated.

It would be funny if it wasn't so true.

I don't know. The only thing I know is that the real estate market is crazy. I guess low rates, but all over the city renovations are being done and houses are going for higher than list price.

My ex runs a big title company and they 84 closings in one day last week.

We're already at 50% immunity

The cruise ship cases and a couple of others show that for some reason 50% of people don’t get it.

They will never be able to achieve 75% vaccination so this is a lost cause.

Wait herd immunity now relies on 75% vaccinations

Fauci said 50 or 60%, then came out a month or two later and said he had deliberately lied (again) and that it was actually 90%, but he worried if he had said that at the beginning people would have thought it was impossible and thus pointless.

I’d say people buying part time homes and what not doesn’t really speak to the health of the city.

The organization financing covid relief has us pegged at 50% already nationally. The federal government can only come up with frickery related to travel at this point.
