A lot of people on here predicted this would be the next goalpost shift in terms of keeping some level of restriction.

Here is a quote from a City Of New Orleans official today regarding keeping restrictions in place:

quote:

Tidwell stressed, as he has before, that the key to the city's full reopening lies in herd immunity to the disease, which experts say is obtained when roughly 75% of the population has been vaccinated.

Yes NOLA is vastly more liberal, and way more restrictive and nutso than the rest of the state, but you're crazy if you don't think that many, many politicians at local, state, and federal level won't shift to this.

Just 2 weeks to flatten the curve dude

The next item I expect them to start pushing is requiring vaccinations to enable certain things like flying, etc.

IMO any discussion about herd immunity should include past infections, otherwise, you're ignoring a significant chunk. Especially with multiple studies suggesting antibodies holding up pretty well over time.

I defended gubmint with some of their restrictions before the vaccine became widely available but now that it is available to almost everyone who wants it, there is almost zero reason to still have restrictions in place.

Called it.

75%? So essentially things will never open up as there will never be 75% vaccinations. Can’t wait for the diligent officials to keep those records.

Another way of saying restrictions will be in place until the vaccine is FDA approved. That's the implication here. After that they can require racist vaccine passports or whatever the hell they are thinking about.

Other than live music and wearing a mask in certain stores I haven’t been affected by restrictions for months.

First, flatten the curve

I lost track of all the changes but the last I remember was "if 80% wear masks, we can open it back up" which also proved to be a lie.

The fearmongers never stop.

It's just 2 weeks
It's just a mask
It's just a festival/parade
It's just a bar
It's just a restaurant
It's just a gym
It's just a park
It's just a school
It's just 2 more weeks
It's just a church
It's just 2 more weeks
It's just a football game
It's just a basketball game
It's just 2 more weeks
It's just a shot
It's just another mask for 2 more weeks
It's just a simple compromise! Why won't you do just this one small thing?!

Herd immunity shouldn't be 75% vaccinated. It lies somewhere around 50%, but they'll keep it locked down until everyone is vaccinated. in a few months, 85 will be the new 75.

You know how dead people and people who moved away still vote in elections? That’s one way they’ll
manipulate the stats to keep the goal from being reached. They have no idea of how many people are really in the city or the state. It’s based on their record keeping. How accurate is that?

So no matter what happens, they’ll just keep saying we haven’t reached “75%” and things will never
Change.

Get rid of your leaders if you want this to end.
