Exactly. Nothing to do with Atlantis.

No, none of that means people couldn't have once lived there.

Pretty sure that's false. They traveled all over the Mediterranean.

There is either something to the story since it’s in basically every major Mediterranean powers history, or the ancients just made up a bunch of shite.

What people don’t realize is that homer is actually retelling an ancient Egyptian story about Atlantis from 1,000s of years earlier. So they may have been a power 10,000 years or so ago or much older than that. (We now know the official timeline of human development is wrong so maybe there were advanced lost civilizations)

So the Sahara argument may be correct since it was once a Sahara forest.

There's a lot of evidence that it was the center of the Eye of Soro in the Sahara desert. Pretty cool to look at it on Google maps and easy to imagine what it was.

Doesn't mean they did though and there is zero geological evidence that they did.

Outside of Plato, there is zero evidence for Atlantis.

History is going to look back and laugh at this era of society. Experts, who were clearly wrong about many things, exiling those who questioned them as they have labeled themselves "science."
The same way we laugh at those scientists who pushed the boundaries 500 years ago, but were still wrong about many other things bc their technology and knowledge of things at the time limited them?

What an idiotic comment.

Well if it was something as catastrophic as a pile shift event, then there wouldn’t be much in the way of evidence of Atlantis, as it would have been destroyed.

There is a compelling case that Atlantis is Santorini, Greece.

Santorini sits on a volcano caldera. That volcano erupted and imploded which also caused water to rush in .

Honestly, this theory seems to be the most likely.

There are a lot of undersea structures all over the place. For example, there is a city off the coast of India that is over 5,000 years old. Humanity has gained and lost knowledge through time. It's not far fetched to think that there were ancient advanced civilizations that are lost to our knowledge.

Humans have explored more of our solar system than then ocean.

Sea levels have risen almost 400 ft since 20,000 years ago. That kind of sea level can bury a lot of civilizations.

Especially since civilizations usually congregate near the sea where resources are plentiful.

You mean archeological, and yes there are artifacts that have been found. It's impossible to accurately date them, and they are far from 'advanced technology' but they do indicate human habitation in the area.

Because I don't think it takes 140000 years for humans to learn basic shite like agriculture.

Well, it did. So…

You say this from the perspective of someone who has the benefit of every advancement for 10k years.

There are many reasons why it likely took so long, but one of the main ones is resources. When you are spending every day searching for food and struggling, you don’t have time to spend thinking about advancements.

Once an advancement is thought of it takes time to spread. Once it spreads it takes time to lead to the next advancement

Most population explosion advancements have been because of innovations in food, water or sanitation.

He's been consistent, the African site is not Atlantis. He still thinks it's in the Atlantic on the Island that was submerged during the end glacial maximum (if at all.. hes not saying Atlantis is real, just if it were it would likely be there in Atlantic).

That was over 1000s of years. The average rate was .8 inches per year. More than enough time for any advanced civilization to move inland.

That theory doesn’t account for the energy needed to melt the ice. If it were true we’d still have a major ice sheet over Hudson Bay to this day.

Peak ice melt lasted from 20,000 years ago to 8,000 years ago at a rate of 0.4 inches per year.

8,000 years ago to now the rate has been 0.005 inches per year or less.
