Humans have been on earth for around 150,000 years. I have a real hard time believing we just walked around picking up berries for 100,000+ years and then all of a sudden started figuring shite out 10,000 years ago.

The most likely origin of the Atlantis story is a land mass called Doggerland. It was an island in the middle of the North Sea that sank into the ocean over time and disappeared from the pages of history. Of course, there are other hypothesis regarding Atlantis, but Doggerland always made sense to me as to where the idea of an Atlantis came from.

It's a metaphor myth. That's not right, it's a fable, no. It's a cautionary tale of a society that got too complicated and destroyed itself.

new evidence that puts Atlantis in the Sahara desert
Damned the global warming.

Sure it will, just like ppl used to believe the earth was flat

I listened to a podcast on Rogan about this. Guess made some good points but I also got the kook vibe from them.

I agree that The Richat Structure once had a river running down from the mountains and through it and that it's very possible that people lived there. I also agree that it may very well have been destroye4d by a catastrophe. I don't agree that it was connected to Gobekli Tepe and Tas Tepeler, though, and I doubt it was Atlantis.
However, it bothers me that, prior to the 19th century, Plato was the only one who'd ever spoken of Atlantis. You'd think there would be more mentions of it in historical accounts, legends, etc.

I recently saw that video and have done more digging on the Eye of the Sahara. It's a remarkably huge landform, and was surprised that I had never heard of it. The weather/topography maps the guy uses to explain erosion from water is pretty impressive.

Yeah, he makes a pretty compelling case.

The richat structure is an interesting theory. The problem for me is that there is zero evidence. No buildings or any trace of a civilization on the structure.

They gave him every opportunity to tone it down. It's like those two Weed Brothers lawyers say on YouTube: "Never pass up the opportunity to shut the frick up." Always good advice when you're dealing with the authorities.

There wouldn't be any evidence. It would be completely wiped out. The scale of destruction encountered 11k years ago was unlike anything we could imagine.
You're talking about melting of the ice sheet in a week. Think of it this way, if we took the ice sheet that covered North America back then and plopped it into the ocean, in the tropics, it would still be melting today. The amount of energy needed to melt it is unaccounted for, unless you start thinking of an asteroid impact.
This is why nothing of the civilization really exists, the civilization was obliterated. We are finding new sites that date back to before this time in Turkey, which is exciting.

It may not have been Atlantis but could be the source of the myth of Atlantis

It's in the Mediterranean. It was destroyed when the straits of Gibraltar were overtopped by the Atlantic ocean and the sea level in the Mediterranean Sea rose 300'+. Timing aligns with the great flood described my dozens of cultures.

I too listen to JRE
Posted on 1/22/23 at 5:58 pm to SECSolomonGrundy
I have liked arguments that Atlantis was in the Mediterranean and destroyed by the tsunami caused by the eruption that destroyed Santorini,

The Eye of the Sahara is just crazy. Probably where the first Human/Cylons tested some crazy super weapon that went wrong and killed off humanity.

The eye of the Sahara theory is weak AF.
1. The structure is way too expansive
2. Why would they build dirt rings 100' high? Ships don't need that much depth.
3. Why didn't the rings disappear with whatever was strong enough to wipe away all the stone structures and evidence of civilization?

If there was an earlier advanced civilization that was wiped out, wouldn’t it be safe to assume it followed a similar path to what we are on now?
Wouldn’t there be evidence of mining for all the things we mine for now? Gold, coal, iron ore, etc. We certainly leave marks on the earth through mining that will be noticeable thousands of years in the future.
