IIRC, commands at the attack boat level are typically given to the rank of Commander. However, the commander of the ship is always referred to as Captain.

I'm well aware of the difference between BAH and BAS. I was showing the BAS rate.

Don't forget his pension will be 60% of final 3 year average yearly pay. So when he finally hangs it up making over $200K, he's taking home $120K+ to sit on his arse in retirement; not including any other retirement benefits he may have had aside from the guaranteed pension.

I think your numbers are a little inflated OP, I don't know about Sub guys with bonus's and what not but I don't think there are many generals and admirals pulling in over $150k total after incentives, bonus, Cost of Living, housing, etc.
Still, good for him.

The USS Dallas does not actually appear in the movie. It was the USS Houston
Fun fact. The 688 Class of submarines is called the Los Angeles Class, because the USS Los Angeles was the first to undergo production in the new class. It's number is 688. However, the first 688 Class to actually get to sea was the 689, which is the USS Baton Rouge.
The USS Baton Rouge was also the sub in the 1992 Barents Sea incident where a Sierra Class Russian sub collided with it. I believe they were right on top of each other when one changed depth and hit the other one.

Wiki:
At 20:16 local time on 11 February 1992, while on patrol off Kildin Island near Severomorsk, Baton Rouge under command of Cdr. Gordon Cremer collided with the Russian Sierra-class attack submarine K-276 Kostroma.[9] The United States Navy stated that the collision occurred more than 12 miles (22 km) from the shore, in international waters.[9] Initially the U.S. Navy denied any damage suffered by Baton Rouge, but it was later disclosed that the boat suffered two cuts, as well as dents and scrapes.[10] The Kostroma was fully repaired by 29 June 1992.[11]
Here's what the Soviet ship looked like that collided with BR

fricked that Sierra up..
Posted on 2/2/17 at 2:07 pm to LSUAlum2001
From what I read, Baton Rouge was tracking when the Sierra went silent and drifted.
Baton Rouge lost track of the Sierra and glided over top of her when the Soviet sub changed depth and ran into her keel.
Baton Rouge was Decomm'd in 95, three years after the collision

You are all horribly off on your math. OP has given enough info to google pay charts and figure it out. Interesting tid bit that not many people know about, is that COs of ships are given $100 a month for "command at sea responsibility pay". That is the only special CO pay they get.
