I messaged him earlier telling him to not sink the Red October because it was just Ramius trying to defect.

Any of you have friends that are lifers in the military? I fully expect this guy to work his way into the Admiral ranks before his career is over.

This CSB is fitting, I guess..

I think I'm the last in from my group of HS and college friends.

I sure as hell won't see a GO rank

Good luck to your friend in his command time. I hope it is a smooth period.

He's pulling in over $10K per month in base pay, not including his BAQ and BHA benefits.

Total is probably $150-$170K.

I don't know what BAQ and BHA are but sounds good, congrats to him. Can he hire you on as a deck boy or something?

Housing and food allowances.

At his rate, I'm guessing he gets $2K per month for a mortgage if he isn't getting free housing on base.

Food allowance for a family is probably an additional $1K per month.

Food allowance(BAS) isn't that much, too lazy to google but I'd say no more than $300 a month.

Depending on where he is. The amount of BAH is dependent on rental averages within the geographic area of duty station. Our BAH at Norfolk was much different than that at Pensacola or up in NY. Also factored to it is single/family and rank.

Don't forget his pension will be 60% of final 3 year average yearly pay. So when he finally hangs it up making over $200K, he's taking home $120K+ to sit on his arse in retirement; not including any other retirement benefits he may have had aside from the guaranteed pension.

One day we were sitting in class before a big test, and this guy basically stayed up all night memorizing all of the material. While the rest of us are reviewing notes before class starts, he's badgering everyone with..

"Hey, Jones.. Ask me a question! Hey, Douglas, Ask me a question! Hey, Williams.. Ask me a question!"

Finally, someone from the class responds.. Alright, David, I'll ask you a question, WHY DON'T YOU SHUT THE frick UP?!
