Let me get this straight...you want me to come to the police station so you can assault me because you are making short-sighted, narrow minded statements which I shot full of holes?

That the cut of your jib?

Unfortunately, there is a very minute tier of experts in niche fields that are necessary for their knowledge and ability, and are therefore not expendable.

Most everyone else, regardless of position or academic level is expendable.

I don't know a single person with a college degree that has been laid off right now. We are all just working from home.

The only people I know that have been laid off are non essential plant workers and service industry workers.

I don't believe things are always that simple to break down.

Edit: Many of the people in the sectors you mentioned may actually hold college degrees. A good many LEOs hold CJ degrees, for example...

They aren’t, not by a long shot. And there is zero reason to insult people who were laid off through no fault of their own.

Look, I get the derision towards pointdexters who think they know everything and look down on the working class, but most working people, blue or white collar, aren’t like that.

There is value in most workers, from ditch diggers to doctors. Suggesting that people who only have rudimentary schooling can run everything just fine is dumber than a box of hammers.

Seems to me most of the STEM degree folks are working from home.

Myself included...

Let it all out baw. Exorcise those high school demons. In the end, those trust fund kids going to college were wrong and you were right.

Currently, 34 of the people that read your post do not have a college degree and 55 people do.

The real humdinger is, if you don’t have a degree, and also don’t have a marketable skill...that HS diploma ain’t gonna do you much good anyway, will
It?

Without a trade, an expertise, in something , you are a strong back and a weak mind suited for stacking things on top of other things.

And despite what some will tell you, if you are easily replaced with minimal training, you aren’t nearly as essential as you think.

Ehhhh... I've only called an AC man once in the 12 years since I built my house.

I've taken out several loans in that same time period.

Both are essential to a modern economy.

Same observation here.

And since yall pulled the soap box out, I want to use the opportunity to say screw you to everyone who is using this opportunity to say stock boys deserve $15 because they're "essential". You dont get paid more because you have to go to work when other people work from home. You get paid more when your skills/labor is worth more. The laws of supply and demand are still in effect even during these weird times.

Yeah, that irks me too. Because then it devalues the pay of more skilled workers and will create inflation. fetching buggies, bagging groceries and stocking shelves was a job I was doing at 15 and could train someone on in half a day.

The “essential” thing just means you still have a job atm. Don’t get a big head.

This is actually not true at all.

The most impacted by this are some education/lower middle to bottom rung.
