I feel bad for that fricking kid. He seems respectful and couldn’t even get his mom to stop acting like an a-hole. Poor kid likely thought his mom was about to get herself shot because she decided that (exceptionally stupid) moment was her time to make a stand. And I love how she accused him of “throwing the ticket” at her when he dropped it on the car because she refused to take it. What an idiot.
You can’t do that and act like an a-hole and refuse to do what the cop is telling you just because you don’t feel like it. I hope she learned a lesson with this, but she won’t.
And the cop did escalate it a bit as well. He didn’t like that she threw it out the window. He should’ve just said wait here you are getting another ticket for littering. He’s gotta be more professional in the moment as well, as hard as that may be sometimes. I blame this situation 80/20 on the woman/cop. Hopefully her son learns to comply and let the lawyers and the court sort it out later if it comes to that. It’s not worth it most of the time.

I can solve this problem over night.
Immediately amend the penalty for resisting an officer (lawful orders). The revised statute should allow an offender to be booked without bond, followed by a bench trial the next day solely to determine guilt or innocence on the resisting charge. Upon conviction, the offender would serve a mandatory minimum sentence of six months in jail without eligibility for suspension, parole, or good-time reductions.
The problem is this will never happen because there is a certain class of politicians that build their power on continuing to stoke the flames of long passed oppression and racism.

All that over some damn ticket. These people do not have the brain capacity to realize what’s going on and how to react. Imagine being a police officer and having to deal with these stupid ignorant people every day.

Poor kid. He has an uphill climb with a dumbass mother like that. I hope he overcomes it.

I agree with this but I'd start off way lower and get exponential with it. Hopefully they learn the first time and never do it again.
1st offense. 3 days
2nd: 9 days
3rd: 27 days
4th 81 days
5th: 243 days
and so on..
that way the first time is a simple learning mechanism without necessarily overly hindering any jobs or parenting. Then shite gets real.

You couldn't pay me enough to be a police officer and deal with low IQ morons like that.

I, for one, support mandatory arrest for litterbugs. At least mandatory court.
Only the worst type of humans believe it’s fine to leave their trash laying around.

Easy junior. It's a legitimate question.

So you’re saying that he’s a republican?

You’re a joke. She was the only one that was emotional.
He gave her her license AND the ticket. She separated the ticket and threw it out the car. He did not “drop” it into the car.
I bet you cheered when Obama got on National tv, to proclaim that “ the police acted stupidly”. Then had to stage a kiss arse Beer Summit.
Trying to wiggle an excuse for this type of behavior shows that you are willing to “ act stupidly.
The citizen takes her license from his hand.
Then the LEO gives the ticket a backhand toss onto her lap.
She quickly picks it up from her lap and tosses it out of the window.
It's not difficult to see what happened. Lying about it only weakens your position. It makes you look ignorant or mendacious.
You should at least know what you're talking about before you post.

He should have let her throw it on the ground and drive away. Arrest warrant will be issued when she fails to appear/pay the fine.
She would probably sue the city when they have to pit maneuver her vehicle when executing the bench warrant.

Could the LEO have retained the citation in his hand?
Should the LEO have retained the citation in his hand?
Is it the proper procedure to retain the citation if it's refused?
Is it the proper procedure to backhand the citation into the driver's lap when it's refused?
What did the LEO think was going to happen when he tossed the citation into an agitated citizen's lap who had already refused the citation?
Why did the LEO backhand the citation into the driver's lap after it was refused?
Would the littering and arrest for littering have been avoided if he had retained the citation in his hand?
