There are better drinks and better places to drink in Animal Kingdom.

Probably...I haven't been to Animal Kingdom in about 20 years. It was pretty fun then, my son enjoyed it but he had war more fun at Gator Land LOL.

Probably better places to drink in Mt. Dora but it'd be hard pressed to convince the wife it would make lifelong memories for the kids. If, however, I drank enough I guarantee you the kids would have a more memorable experience...

We went to Disney when I was about 6 or so (1971 ish). Had spent the day before on Daytona Beach and stayed at the boardwalk until about 2 AM the night before. Parents, me, 2 sisters. All of us was burnt to a crisp 'cause back then sunblock was for pansies...the idea was to get a good burn on day one and it would fight off the effects of the sun the rest of the week. Imagine our surprise when we heard about melanoma...but I digress. We had been at the boardwalk because Mama and Daddy took bad drunk in order to avoid killing everyone of us. Needless to say when the drunk wore off, about 2 hours after leaving Daytona, they were not in what one might call a nurturing frame of mind. This was back in the day when you bought ticket packages and it allowed you to pick among some attractions. everyone did not have to have a ticket though...you could, technically, but a package which was good for 5 attractions and split them among 5 people...which is exactly what we did...bought 3 such packages. We had made sandwiches which is what we did back then...the entire week of vacation we ate peanut butter and banana or pineapple sandwiches (we were in the tropics for god's sake...had to have some pineapple). I do not remember drinking anything which did not come out of a fountain for the entirety of the 14 hour trip. We did get one pair of mouse ears which my sisters and I fought over because we were sharing them...after about 2 hours of that my dad snatched them off my sisters head, with about 1/3 of her hair, and tossed them in the garbage. Had I known there was such a thing as emancipation of minors or political asylum I would have started the process by 10 that morning...being ignorant I stuck it out and for certain have the kind of life long memories Disney and therapists make a mint off of...that experience may have clouded my judgement but it was basically an expensive Tuesday in our family but otherwise about the same as any Tuesday...

Is this some kind of mental disorder needing to be diagnosed?

What's the mental disorder for someone who can't stop obsessing over what other people like to do for fun?

If I was supreme dictator all of the Disney obsessed adults would be some of the first up against the wall.

Everyone who asked why do I care in this thread would be next.

I was there in Dec and found the restaurant situation in the parks to be severely lacking.

Did you do the restaurants that take reservations? There's 4 types of restaurants in my opinion:
(1) quick service
(2) buffet (usually character greeting)
(3) cheaper quality restaurant designed to move people in and out (like Liberty Tree Tavern)
(4) a regular good restaurant, reservations needed (many are in hotels or Disney Springs)

I think you can say that it's possible for healthy, normal people to have a Disney fetish while still acknowledging there is a decent correlation between Disney fandom and cat mom types.

I think Disney is the dumbest place you could go as an adult. I think there are long lines, screaming kids, overpriced food, and stodgy entertainment. There are far better places. But if an adult wants to go to Disney, why does it matter? Why would someone care about it?

You listed the reasons. I suppose it’s good for the rest of functioning society to keep the asylum together of grown lonely adults needing Mickey Mouse.

Yes, sure. I agree. Why is that not okay for there to be cat mom types? Rather, why does it illicit such a strong response?

It's not about ok or not ok

Weird people exist. In some contingents they exist in higher percentages, and the Disney cult is probably one such contingent.

There may be some truth to the notion that it would be a good hunting ground for pedophiles. After having endured it several times and watching the way children react it seems plausible that a parent would be momentarily relieved to be shed of the little bastard for just a few minutes. They would no doubt regret it later what with being a parent and all but in the moment, after several hours of enduring the happiest place on earth a weak parent may turn a blind eye to chester walking off with their youngun...

A couple co-workers used to go every year just to drink and bar hop, no kids. Made no damn sense at all!

My sister and brother in-law do this. They loved to go before they had kids and now with a few young kids it’s put it into overdrive. Not something I’d want to do (even with young kids) but they have plenty of money and still travel to other places.

They’re both perfectly normally, well adjusted people who just love going to the parks.
