I hear what you're saying, but I think the poll was in line with my thoughts on the amount of money it would take. Im merely saying what makes me feel comfortable in life and it was doing all of those things without worry about money. Apparently people somewhere agree somewhat.
Ask me in twenty years as Im winding down work and what is comfortable to me may very well change.

The house I just purchased was 740k, and my mortgage is a few bucks over 4k.
Maybe you have a shite interest rate?
And to be fair, my loan is a VA loan.
My original piti payment was $1260. It's now over $1800 because of property tax increases.
I don't know why this is so fricking hard for people to understand.
I feel like I'm playing cards with my sister's kids.

You're paying $600 more a month in property tax increases?
For a 195k house?
Something doesn't add up.

Because no one on earth believes you pay like 10k per year in property taxes in suburban Georgia. If you do, someone fricked up.
Either the assessor or your servicer or the county tax man fricked something up for you to be paying 800-900 a month in property taxes. My house is assessed at nearly double yours in texas and my property taxes aren’t that high.

OK let me explain this like I explain blackjack to my 5 year old niece.
Original assessment- $3k a year. Escrow set up for $3k a year.
Taxes go up.
Escrow is short.
Escrow goes up to cover the differential, the arrears, and goes up more to make sure there's not arrears next year.
Then the taxes go up again.

Then the taxes go up again.

Doesn't take long for a $1200 piti payment to become an $1800 piti payment.
Yall understand yet, or do I need to literally teach yall how to count to 21?

why not apply for a Homestead exemption?

That's with the homestead exemption. And here's the kicker, I don't even send my kid to the public schools because they are garbage, so I'm paying private school tuition on top the property taxes that fund the garbage schools.

Bro get your house out of that LLC you put it in and get a homestead exemption.

In your case how long did it take? With a 195k purchase price on your home, I’d imagine you’ve been there a while.

Where did all the Gwinnett County property tax experts go?
Posted on 7/10/23 at 8:19 pm to deeprig9
While that sucks, it could be worse and paying $14K/yr in property tax in Texas.

But you have no state income tax, so I'd have to do the math on whether or not it would be better off.

What sort of tax increases did y’all vote for?
No way your home value increased that much.
