It is not airborne, and it can't turn into a pandemic because it is too deadly.
I don’t know why this keeps being said.
It’s not true. It won’t become a pandemic because it’s just not very contagious. Not because it’s “too deadly.”
That line only comes out for things like Ebola and even then, it’s because the source is in the deep jungle that it can take days or even weeks of travel to hit a small village.
Once it hits a population center it has no problem simmering in the background. But it doesn’t for too long because it’s somewhat hard to get so minimal precautions stop it.
Smallpox European global mortality is only a touch lower than this disease and it had no problems causing an outbreak.
When it hit natives, it killed 50-90% and cut through them like a knife coast to coast.
The difference is just being in the same room with someone with smallpox is enough to expose you.
For this bug, you pretty much have to be sitting next to the infected or some kind of point of contact between you.

Literally the only places I see any push so far has been have been social media threads and posts by people with PTSD from the lockdowns and are terrified about another.
Even the head of the WHO flat out said this isn’t the start of a COVID-19 scenario and it’s rare you get experts in this field to make such declarative statements.

The earliest covid proclamations were pretty meh, too... if I recall correctly. Then, all of the sudden, everyone turned it up to 11 at the exact same time.

They are trying to slow roll it. They know immediately saying we might have to lock down won't fly. That's why I said it's a slow buildup process they are using. So when they finally tell us we need to it will sound more believable. It's all mind games son.

Right. Because viral infections in a population generally spread at an exponential rate. It was nothing more that a simple 8th grade math equation.

I have this, but not because I want them, but because it was the single most destructive non-legislative decision imposed by the US government during my lifetime. It set the stage for months of societal unrest, costing dozens of lives for every 1 that was potentially saved, and had an impact on our youth that we may never fully realize.
I apologize for the rant but even a whiff of the word lockdowns makes me want to vomit. I work in healthcare.

I remember... call 911 and have to answer a covid survey before getting help, the jails getting purged, cops not doing shite. It sucked. Bigly.
Except the free donuts if you proffered your covid vax card, that was the absolute tits in corporate/government partnership in public health.

You recall incorrectly.
People who follow this stuff were watching it unfold was fear. Rumors and stories of people dropping dead in streets were abound as early as January.
We saw the simmering and exponential spread globally.
Then everyone lost their minds at the video of a developed country like Italy getting arse raped and their medical services overwhelmed.
For the 2.5 month gap between those two I was buying a little bit extra canned goods and pasta every grocery trip and recommending friends and family do the same…..
(And for the record, I was with the folks calling all of vaccine and lockdown madness absurd and illogical……but to say the early phases were being slow walked and not taken seriously just because it didn’t hit your radar is revisionist history)

Yeah every epidemiologist interviewed is saying no pandemic potential
There are clustered outbreaks of this every year. This is a well studied virus. Not a novel virus.
This is only a story because it happened on a ship
