In Mexico, which has a relatively small population of Afro-Mexicans and abolished slavery decades before its northern neighbor, Rodwell said she does not experience the same racism as she does in the U.S.. “Being Black in America,” she said, is exhausting. “It’s nice to take a break from it.”
These kind of people are the scum of the earth.

In her little bubble she doesn't pick up on the hatred the Mex have for her.
And Mexican TV/news/all media isn't 24/7 racism either.

Despite growing tensions, Mexico City is not Paris, where an American stumbling over French in a boulangerie will get a dose of hostility along with her croissants.
I never saw that stereotype in Paris. If we said Bonjour and were nice, they bent over backward to help us. Mangle an attempt at French, and they would smile and help you get it right.
I suspect many Americans who visit other countries act like entitled assholes and expect everyone to speak English. No surprise, they get rude treatment in return.

And when transplanted Californians miss an election in the US, it’s probably a good thing.
If they're Democrats, they get to leave their vote behind.

I've been looking at a lot of videos. But central Mexico is hot.

Yeah that’s not how Dim voter rolls work

You realize people who move to other countries can still vote in presidential elections?

yeah, I went to Mexico City over Mardi Gras break back in like 2014 and it basically blew me away.
It was super cheap (even though all the locals I talked to were complaining about how expensive it was), food was great, and the architecture and historical sites are really nice. I wish I had more than 3 days there.
I can definitely see the appeal of living there over California.

Hugo Van der Merwe, 31 — a video game designer who grew up in Florida and Namibia and has spent the last several months working remotely from Mexico City, Montreal and Bogota, Colombia — said he understands why locals are vexed by the growing population of “digital nomads.”
“There’s a distinction between people who want to learn about the place they are in and those who just like it because it’s cheap,” he said. “I’ve met a number of people who don’t really care that they’re in Mexico, they just care that it’s cheap.”
I love this. Progressive acknowledging the negative effects of his actions but in typical progressive fashion finds a way to justify it being ok for him but not others. Ignoring the fact that the negative effects are the same regardless why you’re there.

This is good. Maybe all those us dollars being spent in Mexico will reduce the dollars in America and slow inflation. That would be cool.

Lmao at the 'being black is exhausting in america'
Eternal victims and grievance groups. Sounds about right.
At least these losers are just renting.

It is an awesome place. Probably two of my favorite trips have been to Mexico City.

I dunno what's more ironic, the theme of the article is this amazingly tone-deaf quote.

The locust analogy used earlier is a good one.

I watch this YouTube channel Tangerine travels about living in Mexico.
For $1500 a month you get a house in the golf course in a gated community fully furnished with all utilities paid.
It looks appealing at times.

I support this for everyone who feels like this person. Mexico is the least racist place on the planet. Tell your friends

wait so its ok for them to come here, transform neighborhoods, cause all kinds of issues, do all of it illegall....but its not ok for americans to go and live for 6 months at a time?
sounds pretty racists to me. and since when did gentrifying become a bad thing? i thought diversity was a strength and we should all live next to each other?
the left cant make up their mind. another case of rules for thee...not for me.
