I’ve made it to 56 without a regular prescription. Fingers crossed for the future

I have been on any prescription for less than 3 months total of my life.

My BMI is under 20 and I have wonderful impulse control.

Admittedly some of my good health is luck.

But Life is much easier when you’re the master of your own desires.

Only country in the world where pharma advertises direct to end users. “Tell your doctor…”

Something is seriously fricked up.

My mom is 80 and doesn't take any prescriptions.

ETA: I'm almost 58 and take nothing.

It just strikes me as extremely odd that 70% of Americans "need" to introduce an artificially-created substance into their bodies in order to live a "normal" life.

I mean, daily/monthly birth control is a prescription medication and currently cannot be purchased over the counter. That out of the gate is probably a fair chunk.

Is birth control included in these numbers? Seems that would skew data from the point you’re trying to make. The telling number would be 2 or more Rx data.

Don't you need to smoke weed every day because your mind is 'racing'?

A lot of medication is used to extend life beyond historical averages. Most notably blood pressure and cholesterol medicines. These are often hereditary issues in which “ normal “ living people would have died in their 70s but can now live until 90s.

And yes extreme exercise and diet can help overcome these issues without medication, but not always and just being skinny is not enough for someone people

That is actually a good point.

Just Googled, and according to the CDC, 65% of women ages 15-49 use birth control.

There is absolutely zero reason for this statistic to be so high.

Hospitals and specialists do not make money when people are healthy. The entire system is setup for them to profit by more meds, testing and procedures regardless of effectiveness.

I’m one of the 70%. HBP. Been on meds since I was 23. Not overweight, don’t smoke, active. The genes in my family got me. One pill a day levels me out.
