Get a damn hobby! Go to the gym! There is absolutely zero reason for this statistic to be so high.
I have hobbies, don't go to the gym but run 4-5 miles four days a week and go for a walk on the others. I eat healthy foods such as avocados, fish, chicken, almonds, walnuts, bananas, blueberries, raspberries, pomegranate, apples, dark chocolate, oatmeal, eggs, spinach, asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, and other veggies. I drink a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil, two to three cups of green tea, coffee and a glass of beet or orange juice. I take supplements such as CoQ10, Vitamin B, Iron, fish oil, Multi-Vitamin,Turmeric/Curcumin, Saw Palmetto and a couplf of others.
As much as I strive to live a healthy lifestyle at 63 and have good LDL and HDL numbers, I still have to take a prescription med every day for cholesterol.

If your numbers are good, why do you have to take a med?

Because my total cholesterol was 206 the last time I went to the Doc which was Friday.

You realize it isn’t as simple as you make it sound, right? For example, I’m young, eat healthy, hit the gym 4-5 days per week, golf once per week. However, I have a genetic heart condition that requires me to take a prescription medication once daily.

That's the problem with this thread. People acting like that 70% of people is all Adderall prescriptions.
According to CDC not that many on the pill
quote:
Percent of women aged 15-49 currently using the pill: 14.0%
Percent of women aged 15-49 currently using long-acting reversible contraception (Intrauterine device or contraceptive implant) 10.4%
Second category is IUD. Not sure if those “prescriptions”

but Its still racing all the time.
Like our dreams, we can’t really control our thoughts, but we can control our reactions to thoughts. We can realize we are thinking about something and not fixate upon it. Kind of like sitting at an intersection watching cars pass. You see them pass, but don’t follow any one car. You can have a thought, or an emotion, and choose to not react. You can train your brain to do this.
Many people like this feeling of their mind racing because it preoccupies them, makes them feel productive. Being productive is what we are taught is the most important attribute in western society.

OTC medicines and antibiotics/steroids are about the only thing we should ever use.
Most other things are designed to make us dependent and make a lot of gross people wealthy.
Big pharma is truly an unnecessary evil and we would all be wise to take no medicine, but instead change our diet and lifestyles.
The vast majority of medicine is just a big cash scheme. Not all medicines are bad, but most are going to lead to another med and then another and then another... all counteracting the previous one you start. That's very convenient for them.

Easier to guzzle pills than hit the gym for 45 minutes.

I use to be super anti prescription meds. Then I realized I was way too high strung and finally tried one of those pills that chills you out. Life changing and this one you don't build up a tolerance
Go on. Seriously. I'm interested in knowing what helped you.
I've never been on prescription meds in my life other than the occasional antibiotic. But I'm under a tremendous amount of pressure right now and tbh not managing it well. I'm seriously thinking about getting some help.
