I don't have a 100ft tv at home or a huge Dolby surround sound system, but then again I'm not an OT baller.

It doesn't take that. Hell headphones can work great.
My point is that the tech in digital theaters and what we can buy at home are more alike than different.

I don't even have surround sound or a speaker bar. Just the built-in speakers on my 60" Vizio. Should probably upgrade.

Movies suck anyway. TV series are much better. I couldn’t name the last non-marvel or kids movie I saw in the theater.

Yep, and I don't have young kids anymore so all she's interested in is Marvel. It's not like I have Ozark cranked up enough at home for the neighbors to hear it.

I really like my AMC. No one under 18 allowed after 5:PM . Small theaters. Dine in. Lots of alcohol for good deals. Amc alist is awesome. I’d be devastated if it closed.

A lot of that is due to the crap content coming out of the industry now. Almost no original ideas. Superhero movies and remakes.

I still LOVE going to the movies because it really is a great experience, but when you throw in that...
A) Popcorn, drinks, movie tickets are expensive as frick.
B) Most movies are either superhero movies or remakes
I don't feel as bad about that.

Lack of quality original movies or even quality remakes is a big reason that moviegoers have lost interest. What is the last movie that you really felt you “needed” to see before it left theaters? The only movies I’ve seen recently in theaters is Star Wars and 1917.

Agreed. The prices are stupid for popcorn and nachos. But I've done the restaurant style movie theater where they bring you drinks and real food - it was great.

They actually did fine in 2019. Their revenue grew significantly. They weren’t going anywhere had the gov not forced them to close

they have been slowly dying since the introduction of the VHS tape, streaming is a head shot.
back in the day you would have to wait years to see a movie on TV if you missed it in the theatre, now you can watch it on a plane in 2 months and at home in about the same time frame.
Who wants to go sit in a nasty assed theatre seat and deal with dummies and phones to pay 40 bucks to see something you can catch in a short while for 5.99?
This is not even getting into the absolute shite movies getting turned out these days.
