Meanwhile, PronHub is giving away free memberships.

AMC was in trouble long before their theaters were forced to shut down, I imagine this is the end

Not surprising.
They need to just release all new movies for home streaming. It might kill movie theaters but that’s going to start happening anyway.

More people would go with alcohol and cheaper food.

We still go to the movies a few times per year. Admittedly, not nearly as much as we used to.
A lot of that is due to the crap content coming out of the industry now. Almost no original ideas. Superhero movies and remakes.

At 5B in the hole, something doesn't sit right. Who continued to give them that much credit line? Where on earth did the money go?

I would feel bad for them if popcorn and a drink didn't cost $25 on top of the $15 ticket.

It’s unfortunate because I just go there for the Dolby Digital screens. Generally far superior to any other theaters’ screens.

Disney or Netlfix needs to buy it.

Good riddance. Who watches movies in theaters anymore. Boomers getting too old. Movie theaters are the Harley Davidson of the entertainment industry. Like a Covid on a vent, it's dead.

Yep. Zero interest in superhero movies or the latest Star Wars shitshow.
Ford vs Ferrari is the only recent movie to interest me.

I don't think Disney and Netflix would be allowed to just buy the whole thing outright because of long standing anti-trust protections. WAY back when, it was ruled that studios owning theaters was too monopolistic. It's why you don't see any Paramount or MGM movie theaters. The government regulates how studios can own pieces of the distribution and exhibition parts of the movie business.
I'm pretty sure, though, that's being revisited to decide whether those protections need to go away completely.

Another dinosaur company dies, along with GameStop.
