Amazon needs to put a store in the airports,
The Amazon Go concept would be perfect for Airports.

Typical grocery store, all those lanes and only 2 open.
They're all open. They turn green and the door opens when you scan your code.

I agree the only problem is if you run into a group of folks who don't know how to work a computer to save their lives and backs up the whole fricking thing.
Yeah, also the people who go to self checkout with 75 items including produce. Those people should be strung up.

“Snatch and run, y’all!”
I see flash mobs abusing the shite out of this.

Could definitely see the homeless running in there and grabbing and dashing. Would imagine some security posted will be posted at each store.

I’ll be okay replacing Hudson News stores in airports m with Amazon Go.

You have to sign up for the Amazon Go app which will be tied to your cell phone and a credit card. If you're talking about gate jumpers, how is this different than any other store? As I mentioned before, they have an employee at the door to check ID for alcohol purchases. They also have a way more sophisticated camera system than the average convenience store. So I don't see why this would be more vulnerable than average to theft. It should be less vulnerable.

I love it and don't mind having to scan the items myself as I put them in the buggy.

To hell with all of this. I will continue to pay for everything in cash so no one knows what I buy.

I'm not sure how you get in without scanning at the "turnstile" thing.

The ONE thing that Sam's has over Costco. Now, those Costco cashiers are fast as hell but still. They need to get alcohol on the damn Scan N Go though!

Loss Prevention will never be perfect, theft will find a way. That said, I do expect that Amazon has taken almost everything into account and will have much better security measures than your average C-store

Then one is already messed up because it is green but no one is going through it.
I thought the ones that have the "do not enter" symbol might be the ones you exit through.

Unsure of the point....

Amazon has said it employs the same number of people at Amazon Go as you'd find at a comparably-sized convenience store. Instead of cashiers, Amazon has more people restocking shelves and preparing meals.

News like this reinforces my problem with trump not talking about re-educating the workforce for this tech boom but rather talking about coal and illegals. this was always the inevitable, and jobs will still be created. it's just going to leave an older segment of the workforce behind
Why don't they reeducate themselves instead of waiting on a handout from the fricking gov't?

The money they'll save on cashiers they can have full time security.

The "extra" employees are in the back making the sandwiches, salads, etc. Something not done in house at most convenience stores. I would assume if this store format got popular they'd probably centralize food production of at least some things like many restaurants with multiple locations do, probably at the closest Whole Foods.
Don't think of Amazon as a store, think of it as a platform where Amazon is the biggest customer. I wouldn't be surprised if stores like these and the Whole Foods acquisition leads them to going after Sysco's premade food for restaurants business.
