Amazon has also built 3 brand new facilities in Columbus in just the past 2 years as well..including a data center. One thing also about Columbus is that Columbus just recently won the highly coveted 400 million dollar Smart City Challenge from the US Department of Transportation focusing on the future of transportation. That might be of interest to a company like Amazon.

frick our government.
Louisiana should be trying their hardest to get businesses to invest here.
Instead our two biggest cities are speaking truth to power and our state government is trying to backlog and collect nonexistent taxes from last year.

Austin needs more people and traffic like a hole in the head.

Florida's governor was in NOLA recently speaking to businesses about the tax advantages of moving there

We've got some good deals here in Lewisville. Would love to have someone from TD as a neighbor!

Pittsburgh should get it. They really need the economic boost more than the rest.

Louisiana government needs to learn how to budget. Its not the taxes that need to go up its the allocation of those taxes that needs reform.

Dallas, Atlanta, and Boston have to be the top 3 in the running. The cost of labor in Boston should be a major deterrent albeit the talent in the area is unsurpassed in the world.
Both Atlanta and Dallas check basically all of the boxes. I cannot imagine public transport being at the top of their requirements list (i.e., yes it is on the list but they have not provided their priorities in order).
If I'm Bezos, then I'm thinking the following are my top priorities:
1a. City large enough to attract and fill 50,000 highly educated positions
1b. Educated workforce in the surrounding region
3. Affordability of the location (land, people cost)
4. Government incentives
5. Cultural fit
Things like a major airport or the location of existing DCs are givens for cities large enough to absorb HQ2. Those are not points of differentiation for the analysis.
Dallas has another unique variable since WFM in is Austin. HQ2 in Dallas provides a longer-term option of consolidating the offices in Dallas. I doubt this would be a part of the initial plans but it would definitely be a sweetener for anyone in corporate looking for 'synergies'.

Lewisville is nice but too far and traffic blows between 35 and DNT

I really thought New Orleans had this one in the bag.

Remember when all the goobers here said the "biggest economic announcement in Louisiana history" in New Orleans was going to be Amazon?

Don't understand all the downvotes on your posts.
If Amazon wants to be near a major university then Columbus clearly fits the bill with Ohio State.
(That may also explain how Raleigh made the list with Research Triangle and Duke/NC State/UNC all in that area.)

SRT. My office is in farmers branch and I used to live in McKinney. It was a nightmare in rush hour to go up 35 and then up SRT. It's mainly Carrollton, but Lewisville is to the north.

Yeah, with the dense population and it being close to the District for employees that will live there.

the park land?
I know they've been talking about what to do with RFK since it looks like the feds are going to let the city take it
Yep. The Feds let the city have it, apparently though it will have to be rezoned.
The ideal area is near the new Homeland Security building, but the Feds own all that area. I doubt DJT is going to give Jeff Bezos that land.
Another area they've offered is in NE right behind Union Station

The public bid included data on the city, along with information on four proposed locations for the eight million square feet of office space Amazon says it will need by 2027: the Anacostia Waterfront, NoMa/Union Station, Capitol Hill East, and Shaw/Howard University.

The document also discloses that D.C. is proposing a workforce training center it dubs “Amazon University,” which would feature “customized educational curriculum for bachelors, masters, and executive education as well as training and workforce development programs … to meet Amazon’s specific talent needs.”
