it wont. at leats with the current model if you didnt mind doing the homework and haggling you might get a better deal than most people. once this gets pushed out everyone will have the same "haggle free" price.

I didn't read everything, but is Ford agreeing to do the maintenance requirements, etc?
So I buy a certified used car from a Ford dealer in Alabama, that has what I want.
Will my local Ford dealer be required to honor any warranty, etc?
Or would the car be "moved" thru the Louisiana dealer and purchased locally?

Doesn't even appear that Ford or any other manufacturers are inspecting their new vehicles.

Louisiana dealerships will sue to block this and LA will oblige just the same as they stopped Tesla

I wonder if we will be able to return them at Kohl's or Whole Foods like other Amazon purchases

Tesla also.

This really is the way to go. Just let us buy the darn car from the company that made it. Not some goofy cash-siphoning sales front (dealership).

Keep the service centers but make them better, faster and cheaper. Convert the dealerships to upscale cafe's with a few showroom pieces so you can see what's new. Sell online with front porch deliver and trade-in pickup. Race to the cheapest prices ensues. Customer benefit. Truck nuts had by all.

No one pays a massive markup, but can you negotiate down with amazon?

What law in LA actually blocks direct sales anyway?

If you can plan 90-120 days out, this is called Build and Price on Ford.com (or any other manufacturer.) You pick it up at a dealer, but other than TT&L, there will be no markups. If they try the nitrogen filled tire bullshite on you in the hours between when it unloads off the truck and you picking it up, you refuse delivery. They will remove the charges.

This board is infatuated with, "I need a truck this weekend," kind of bullshite.

This going to be nuts.

The Mark up on used books, video games and general goods on amazon is high.

But yeah, this is going to disrupt the used car industry.

Per Grok:

Louisiana's Ban on Direct Manufacturer Vehicle Sales

The ban in Louisiana on outright purchases and leases directly from manufacturers (such as Tesla's direct-to-consumer model) is codified in **Louisiana Revised Statutes (La. R.S.) 32:1251 et seq.**, specifically through the **Louisiana Motor Vehicle Commission Law**. This framework regulates motor vehicle sales, distribution, and franchising, prohibiting manufacturers from selling or leasing new vehicles directly to consumers without using independent franchised dealers.

What are you worried about, NIL contributions from dealership groups?

Last time I was at a ford dealership, after chatting for a few minutes, I simply asked if they use cargurus.com. The salesman literally turned and walked away after muttering something like “yeah go and use car gurus”.

It’s really put a bad taste in my mouth on car salesman and if I could avoid ever dealing with another, I will. If I ever do need to, I will try my best to take his knees out.

I bought a Tesla. No salesman.
