Got one during dirty Santa a few years ago, it was fun for a week, but it's only used to for music every blue moon now.

Honestly I use my echos for music and to turn on lights. And now that Amazon fricked up the music, I’m really thinking of switching everything to home pods

Because our mansion is so big I use them to summons the stewards to the main hall.

The best use of Alexa is setting kitchen timers and playing music, neither of which make the company any money.

Why would someone not want Jeff Bezos spying on them?

Well yeah, they offered them constantly for 20 bucks or even free. We have 6 of them and didn't pay full price for any.
That’s because they are spy devices.
People used to try to hide the bugs. Now they get you to pay for them

Alexa is convenient for playing obscure or current music upon request. I have fun asking it a lot of philosophical and political questions just to see how it's AI reacts. Yesterday, I asked "What is the purpose of a quadratic equation?". Go ahead and ask it if Biden is a proven liar. Ask it who created it. The list of questions is endless.

We had an echo dot a few years ago. It wasn’t particularly useful but the kids liked it so we figured we‘d keep it…
Until one of our kids asked it to play a song from a kid’s movie and it started playing hardcore gangster rap.
Couple that with that fact that the creepy thing kept turning on every time someone would talk and it went right back to Amazon a week later.

The reason they sold them so cheap is because you can order stuff from Alexa.
I fricking despise Amazon. Alexa is the absolute worst. It asks my kids if they want to order something from Amazon. "Would you like me to order that for you?"
frick Amazon.

Playing Jeopardy on Alexa is cool... Except when you say " who was .. Winston Churchill" and she replies " That's incorrect, the correct answer is Winston Churchill" and that is the only answer you missed that day

We have a bunch of Google ones in our house that always seem to kick on randomly thinking we are asking it a question.
On the off chance I do try and ask it a question, it never gets the answer right.

I did some programming for a client for Amazon Alexa and it is by far the dumbest fricking thing I have ever seen in technology. It makes no sense, it's pointless and the BIG Tech Apps over power the actual apps you want to use. It's literally a dumb piece of shite gimmick

Only time I use Alexa is to play music when I’m doing house work.

I have a friend who we made fun of mercilessly because they were buying these smart blinds that you could open and close with your smartphone or Alexa . So damn unnecessary.
I'm not a hacker, and I've never had a desire to become a hacker, until now.
fricking with someone's blinds when the sun is just right, or they're fricking, or they're cooking meth in the bathtub, or disposing of a body, or.....is just petty enough for me to learn to code.
I've found my new calling in life. I'm going to spontaneously make motherfrickers squint when they're trying to watch The View!
